Just returned from 10 nights at Desire Resort (Oct
7-17/03) and overall we had a wonderful time. The resort is very
small and relaxing. We had a consistent group of approximately 35
couples each day of our stay. The staff were very nice and the service
was excellent. The transfer from the airport to the resort was well worth
booking prior to arrival. Hint... ignore all the timeshare freaks who
are like sharks hovering everywhere inside the terminal and run like hell to
outside the building where your ride and resort sign will be waiting.
Ride from the airport is less than 30 min. The last 300 meters into
the Resort is real cool as you cross what looks like an old bridge and for us
was complete with a 4 meter Croc on the edge of the bridge. Reception went
very fast and we both enjoyed the cool towel and champagne very much.
Our room was a king bed second floor ocean view.
Very nice room but very small as well. Thought we were on a cruise ship
for first day as everything was limited for space. Decided we did not
need too much clothing space as we did not bring much anyway. Bed was
very nice with a canopy cloth thing above it. Had a large balcony which
we shared with the room next door. Walls were a little thin but this
made for some interesting conversations at pool side next day as your new
neighbors broadcasted their enthusiasm on arrival... grin. The comment
"He's the King" was used to describe one couple in particular.
Disappointed that the fridge only contained water and dearly missed the soft
drinks, beer, wine and cheese plates we had become accustomed to on past
trips. Also did not have any room service menu or the chance to have breakfast
in bed. Also not able to leave door to balcony open due to bug bite
problem. But overall we were very happy with our room.
Pool was always clean and warm.. consistent 1.5
meters deep with a small shallow end at one end. Lots of activity around
the pool when the staff could get us to move. Very easy to get lazy here
and just relax. Most couples were nude but a few remained covered.
No one seemed to care how you dressed and I never heard anyone complain which
was nice. Would have liked to see a little more shade provided for those real
hot periods of the day. Pool volleyball and water polo were most popular
with daily aerobics coming in second. Entertainment staff worked hard to
ensure you had a wonderful stay and we both enjoyed them very much. The
beach was only a few steps away and had wonderful white sand. It never
got too hot to walk on and there were plenty on chairs and sun shacks to
escape to. The staff again were always there to provide you with
whatever you needed. The beach was ok for swimming as it did not have
any rocks but it did have a lot of sea grass on the bottom. This
area less than a 1 km off shore has some of the best snorkeling we have ever
found. We went out 4 days for 2 hours each time and found so much to
see. Warning the guide will make you work as the reef is very large and
he wants to show everyone so much. Be prepared to swim a lot more than
you normally do on a snorkel trip. But every minute was worth it as we
were able to snorkel nude thru some of the best areas we have ever found.
The food was ok but gee I wish someone would show
Mexico how to cook a steak. The a/c dining room was the best and each
guest gets to go there two nights per week. Buffet food was decent but
could have been better in variety and quality. If we had any
disappointment during our stay it would have been with the food.
Sexual displays... yup they were here.. I guess
anytime you put a bed almost everywhere inside the resort there will be
persons who will use them.. We did get an education a few times but
never to a point where it embarrassed us. If you go to the hot tub late at
night it will be there... go into the disco for kissing contests you will
learn something. The odd afternoon on the bed beside the pool
entertainment was provided but hell just grab some popcorn and enjoy the
show...grin. It was never to a point that sexual displays could not be
avoided and I feel it is something that simply adds to the excitement of this
resort. We met many new friends during our stay and were never under
pressure to do anything we did not want to. Most couples were like us
and were not into the swingers lifestyle but were looking for a fun place to
get naked, meet new friends, relax and have a fun vacation with our partners
and Desire Resort is a great place to do this.
