Kerry & Alma - December 2012
(Dec 3 - 17, 2012)
After
7 trips to Hedonism ll, we decided to give Desire, San Jose del Cabo
location, a go. We were not disappointed. Initially my husband claimed
the added luxury and service made him uncomfortable ... on day 2 he said
"when is the next plane to Montego Bay?" However, by the end of the 2
weeks which I would highly recommend; my hubby was a total Desire fan.
This from a man who claimed (watches too much news) he thought we should
avoid Mexico entirely. Friends from California we met at Hedo Dec 2011
decided that we should meet at Desire for 6 days Dec 2012; due to the
short and painless plane flight for all. Once at Hedo we were not
surprised to meet many couples from western Canada who were also
delighted with the ease and low cost of flying from Calgary, Alberta to
San Jose del Cabo airport. Being 10 minutes from the resort was also a
plus. I loved walking across the street from Desire to check out the
silver shops (SilverLand made my husband a beautiful silver, tourquoise
and onyx ring to order in 90 minutes for $85. and after a few shots of
premium tequila the owner talked me into spoiling myself with a lovely
black opal silver ring). It was delightful to come across a parade while
walking in the town square a parade Dec 12, a parade celebrating the
virgin Mary. The fireworks were very exciting and the costumes and
dancing breathtaking. The bus ride to Cabo San Lucas was very
economical. Instead of a $60 round trip taxi ride 3 of us chose to ride
the bus 30 pesos one way ($2.50 U.S) which was more of an adventure! We
were able to view the famous rock formation in Cabo San Lucas (' The
Arch' ) from the bus as we were approaching Cabo. On our return trip due
to my repeated instructions to never follow me as I have NO sense of
direction; my friends had fallen asleep on the bus and when they woke up
it they couldn't see out the windows and I was telling them to get off
the bus. They followed me but yes we did have some nerve wracking
moments thinking we were in the middle of the desert in the dark with
the snakes and scorpions, instead of where we actually were which was
miraculously a 15 minute walk around the corner from Desire. We made
many new friends at the resort including the most wonderful staff
EVER. Another Canadian couple who will also be friends forever too I
am certain; hung out with us and later our California friend and several
younger and older couples (we are in our fifties) as well so the company
was just as fabulous as Hedo!!! The music in the disco was exactly what
we crave and they switched from the usual current disco music to classic
rock just to please the crowd. I danced for hours most nights made more
uninhibited by wearing the theme night costumes. Monday was Colors of
Mexico (Green/White/Red; Tuesday was Anything but Clothes, Wednesday was
Pirate Night (my husband was a pirate several nights in a row as he was
having so much fun); Thursday Sexy Neon clothes; Friday Toga night
(super sexy on the dance floor B and K) Saturday Lingerie Night (can't
get enough of the she devil in lingerie costume) and Sunday white night.
The live music at breakfast and often supper and then again for the
evening entertainment at the Melange Bar in the courtyard was AWESOME
!!! I never get to see live bands at home anymore so 3 fabulous live
bands in one day was HEAVENLY. There was even new bands from week to
week. The electronic harp was AMAZING. The band that played for a very
small crowd stayed an extra half hour to play our Hotel California
request which was every bit as good as the Eagles version. The young men
playing guitar at breakfast Dec 16/12 brought tears to my eyes they were
so talented. The friendly and energetic Entertainment Coordinator Black
Magic, Amber and Angie inspired my husband to play pool games for the
second time in 8 years !!!! The food and drinks were the best I have
ever experienced at a resort. To be carefree and totally uninhibited
plus be wined and dined like never before was WONDERFUL. We both agree
we would love to return "next week" but wil for sure return within the
year.
