We just returned from a 9 day vacation at Desire Los Cabos and had a great time both on and off the resort!  We got married at Hedo III two years ago and are glad we chose to go to Desire Cabo over H3 for this vacation.

The accommodations were very nice and the resort is decorated in a semi-Las Vegas style – very upscale!  Storage space is limited and we ended up storing some items on the patio and under the bed.  The safe was large and automated (you didn’t have to carry around a key like Hedo) which was another nice touch.  The room keys were on necklaces and they required a “house arrest” type bracelet worn on your wrist or ankle so they could easily identify resort guests.   Security was good and we felt very safe on and around the resort.

The restaurants and food were much better than Hedo, although they served a lot of American dishes – pasta, steak, lamb, etc…not the authentic Mexican food we are used to eating in California.  And good luck trying to get a Margarita or Corona ha ha.  The service at Desire could use some improvement.  Sometimes it took 30-45 minutes to get drinks at the restaurants and swim up bars.  A good rule of thumb is to ask for two of everything and plan a half hour ahead.  We asked for two glasses of wine or two iced teas at each meal…you never knew when the waiter would be back or if they would even remember your order.  This seemed to be a resort-wide problem and didn’t matter whether you tipped or not.  Some people tipped their maid each day and still didn’t get clean towels or shampoo.  We tipped at some bars and restaurants but our orders were still forgotten.  Our first night at the Suki bar, we asked to see a menu and it took 6 people in a pow-wow just to bring the menu over.  On the flip side, the resort was hiring a lot of new employees and held training for them daily.  Hopefully this should improve their level of service.

The entertainment staff was great and there was a lot of participation in daytime events and nightly disco themes.  Silvia, Russell and Rosorio really knew how to involve guests in the contests and events like naked twister, body shots, yoga classes, pool volleyball, and the Friday naked cruise (you can’t miss this event!) to name a few.

The cabana beds and spa play areas were tastefully done and readily available.  Most PDA’s happened at night, although we had sex in the middle of the day in the pool and I don’t think anyone noticed (plus the water was so murky you couldn’t see your feet…another area for improvement).  All guests knew what the resort was about; whether they were swingers, nudists, or alternative.  This was a nice change from Hedo, where some guests had no idea what they walked into and were offended.  I highly recommend you talk with your spouse or partner before you get to the resort.  We met couples who insisted they were not swingers one day, then invited us to play the next….very confusing and uncomfortable.  Other than these situations, there was minimal drama at this resort.  We found that guests were all friendly, open-minded, and non-judgmental.  Again, a welcome change from Hedo.

Consistency is another area for improvement at Desire.  We ordered an iced tea almost daily and it was always served differently.  Same goes for the Mojitos – sometimes it was mint leaves and sugar, while other times it was Vodka and water or lemonade with leaves floating on the top.  We found this very amusing and joked the whole week about how the drinks and food would arrive each time we ordered.  If you are expecting high end service, this is not the place for you.  If you take things in stride, you’ll have a great time!

We are already planning our return trip to Desire and can’t wait to go back.  The fishing was fun and the snorkeling was awesome!  The Friday Naked Cruise was so much fun and we ended up meeting several wonderful couples.
