We just got back from Desire last night and I thought I better get some things down while it is fresh in my mind. First off I want you to know we have never been to Desire Cancun so this will be more comparing Hedo 2 and Hedo 3 to Desire Los Cabos. I have also read the other trip reports posted here and I agree with pretty much everything they have said but I also think things are improving by the day.

           When we arrived sat. Dec 2nd we were surprised by how cool the weather was, after sunset it was down right chilly! We like most people didn't have anything along for cool weather so you see a lot of people wrapped in big beach towels while eating dinner in the evenings. As an earlier trip report pointed out they did get the portable heaters set up and were using them when the SDC takeover group arrived. By mid week the weather had also warmed up and was actually very hot mid-day, still gets cool in the evenings though. Weather in Jamaica is warmer and much more humid this time of year!

           The hot tub is HUGE, but they had trouble regulating the heat even later in the week but it wasn't as cool as Monday night again. Once the SDC group arrive there was a little more activity in the hot tub, but still pretty mild by Hedo standards, a bunch of the women formed a "booby circle" and the husbands got to get in the middle one at a time and "sample" all the different nipples (that was fun). We didn't witness any sex in the public at any time. I thought the food was very good, but I'm pretty easy to please that way, wife wasn't as impressed as me. The steak at the Italian restaurant was wonderful! You don't get beef like that in Jamaica. I think the sea food is better in Jamaica but everything else was better here. We wished they would have had bagels available at breakfast though, they had smoked salmon, capers and cream cheese but no bagels. We also didn't have coffee cups in our room the whole time, coffee maker but no cups.

            The beach is huge and seems to go on forever and you hardly know it's there! Fences block the view in all directions. This would be our biggest complaint. You can't even see the ocean unless you have a room on the 3rd floor. We did have a 3rd floor room so we could see the ocean but you have to walk a lot of stairs and everything is pretty spread out, even though the resort is very narrow.

            Disco is too small for resort full capacity, and the raised dance floor is a nightmare. My wife tripped on it several times(she was drunk though ;~}) and someone is going to break an ankle stepping off it accidentally. We didn't make it into the back room so I can't comment on it.

            Staff was all wonderful, can't say enough about them! Maid service is much better than at Hedo. Your waited on as much as you can stand, personally I would just as soon carry my own plate to the table after filling it at the buffet but they mean well. Drink service is also very good, although I had a hard time finding a drink to stick with. At home I drink Bacardi Limon and diet Coke, here they tasted nothing like mine at home. I think it's the Coke "light", must be a little different than what we get here in the States. The "Desire Special" was a good morning drink too. Some drink orders do get "lost in translation", but they work hard and are very friendly!

          The resort seemed to be handling the bigger group pretty well, it seemed like they brought in a lot more staff once they arrived. I too thought it would be a nightmare once it was full but staff seemed to handle it just fine.

           Like always we met a lot of very nice people, to many to mention them all. Monty and Bev, what a great looking couple! We had a good time meeting you, to bad you had to have such a quick trip. Your friends Wayne and Catherine, I hope they enjoyed there trip. Leslie and Corky, what can I say, we had so much fun getting to know you! Sure hope we can stay in touch. And Bill and Debbie, a good couple to hang around with, we had lots of fun. For sure, without a doubt this was the most attractive group of vacationers we have seen, for some reason a much more attractive group than we have seen at Hedo.

Sorry for the length of this report, I mainly wanted to set your minds at ease if you are going soon. The resort is very nice, staff is great and food is very good. Things are getting whipped into shape (they had the showers by the pool done the morning we left) and will be getting better all the time. Will we go back? Probably not right away, we would like to try Desire Cancun because of all the good things we have heard about it so that might be our next trip and it sounds like Desire Los Cabos is going way up in price after the 1st of the year.
