Breezes Grand Negril - July 3, 2010
This was our first trip to a Breezes, although we’ve been to Hedo II
10 times and Hedo III once, as well as various other Jamaican and
Mexican resorts. We went to Breezes (for a change )
because we wanted to relax without the nonstop party atmosphere of
Hedo. We now understand why Breezes Grand Negril is less
expensive than Hedo.
The good things:
The CO beach is a nice, clean beach. Disco was fun every night, and
the main dining room entertainment was very good. Much better
than I've seen elsewhere. Our air conditioning was great.
The food in the restaurants is good. Not great but good.
The entertainment staff was a lot of fun.
Disappointments:
Our room was ready when we arrived, but we soon found out there was
no running water. At all. We immediately notified the
front desk thinking they would move us. No such luck.
Returned to the room about 11 pm…no water. 24 hours later,
after another visit to the front desk, the water was fixed.
Apparently water is viewed as an amenity.
We were disappointed to find out that there is no dinner buffet in
the main dining room. That means you must either make
reservations every night or face a recurring menu at the Italian
restaurant or Grand Café (if it’s open). We didn’t like this
because one of the things we like about being on vacation is the
spontaneity. So if you take a nap and miss your
reservation, the food choices aren’t very good. No midnight
buffet either.
We went with 2 other couples who have been to GL Braco, Hedo, and
other resorts. On day 2 we all agreed we’d never be back.
In fact, we didn’t meet anyone who said they’d be back. We are
very easy going, but honestly there is no comparison to the service
we’ve always gotten at Hedo and other places. Some of the
staff expressed their disappointment in the rebranding as they feel
they used to work for a top notch resort and now the reputation is
not very good.
