Living Waters, Palm Desert California - February, 2017

While in Palm Springs we decided to do a day trip to experience “the waters”. We elected to visit Living Waters Spa and Hotel in Palm Desert, CA.

Living Waters is an old motel located above Palm Desert. It is at 1650 foot elevation so it is well above the base desert. Unfortunately the day we visited there were VERY strong winds and Living Waters is not well set up for that. I don’t know if the winds are normal or not, but they definitely spoiled our trip.

Living Waters has eight hotel rooms (a ninth was used for massages, I don’t know if it can be reserved as a hotel room) plus some condos across the street. The rooms had fine looking beds (which I am told by other guests are very comfortable but I did not try them myself) and most have a small kitchenette. There is also a lunch room with a small refrigerator and tables for day guests. The rooms surround a medium size hot tub and a small pool. The hot tub and pool are fed by an underground thermal source and the hot tub is supposedly kept at 104 degrees with the pool in the mid 90s. I don’t know if it was the wind or what, but if the hot tub hit 90 I would be shocked and the pool was at best in the 80s.

The wind was very strong and whipped around the entire courtyard. There were a few places where the wind was not as strong, but for the most part it was very strong. The wind made it very cold, even in the sun.

Living waters is clothing optional but everyone was nude, including some of the staff. There were only four couples and we were the only ones on a day pass.

We left just after noon and it was a good thing we did since the roads back to Palm Springs were closed later in the afternoon due to blowing sand.
