Here it is our trip report from Couples.
My wife and I spent 5 days at Couples Negril and had a fabulous time. To begin with we flew from Mo Bay to Negril via TimAir. The flight was wonderful and so was our pilot, Mark. I highly recommend TimAir because of their courtesy and immediate departure time when we arrived. Flying along the coast was beautiful as it was evident Jamaica had received rain before our trip because everything was green and lush. We approached Negril's airport, well landing strip that is from the south and flew right over Hedonism. A few guests were au natural and waved to us as we flew over. Wow, that was cool!. Couples is absolutely beautiful but not to take away from Hedonism which I imagine is equally awesome, at least it looked that way from the air. Anyway we checked in and 5 minute later were in out room, out of our clothes and into our swim wear hitting the pool and swim up bar within 10 minutes. The food that night at dinner was fantastic. We were planning on going to Alfred's later that night to listen to live reggae on the beach but I had indulged a little to much at the swim up bar and was slightly shit faced. Oh well there will always be another time for Alfred's or Risky Business as we will be returning next year. Our second day we located a sunny spot on the beach and began our tanning and drinking for the day under the ridums of reggae. Monday we went to Negril to do the shopping thing. Our first stop was the dreaded crafts market but I realize these people have to make a living too and we are used to the higgling so we know how to handle ourselves. After that we headed to Negril and shopped at a couple of stops and then headed back to the hotel. At 5:00 that same night we boarded another tour bus and went to Rick's. While we were impressed with the diving being performed by those working there I wasn't too impressed with Rick's as a whole. Seemed to over commercialized for us. Had to buy tokens for Red Stripes and that made it feel like we were in an amusement park. I had invisioned Rick's completely different. I did finally get the balls to jump off the lower cliffs after we were there for almost two hours and the bus was about ready to leave. But what an experience I will never forget and plan to return for more diving, actually jumping. I'm too old for the diving thing. Our second to the last day my wife and I again took in some quality beach time and then went on a tandem parasail. That was an experience for both of us since neither of us have ever parasailed before. But what better place than Negril for your first time. It was beautiful up there looking out over seven mile beach and the other resorts and the clear blue Caribbean, awesome!!. That night we boarded a huge catamaran and sailed over to the Pickled Parrot and had lots of Red Stripe on the way. They were serving rum punch as well but I had a bad experience with rum punch one time in Jamaica 10 years ago and had never indulged in it since. Upon arrival at the Pickled Parrot my wife and I decided to jump off the catamaran and swim in the Caribbean instead of doing the rope swing and the cliff diving. I always love swimming in the Caribbean and we indulge whenever we get the chance. The next day we had to leave as our trip was a short but exhilarating 5 days. We opted to take the bus back to Mo Bay because you are never in a hurry to leave. Our driver was gent by the name of Errol Flynn. He took us back to Mo Bay through the mountains which was spectacular. It took a bit longer but it sure beat the heck out of the road from hell along the coast. We jetted back to Tampa with fond memories of Negril but plans for our return next year already brewing. As I drink my Blue Mountain coffee each morning I close my eyes and can hear Jamaica beckoning us back.
