Hedonism II Trip Report - Paul & Sue: Dec 06-13, 2025
2025 Dec trip report
Flew American both ways this trip, with no issues at all. Had booked ClubMoBay for arrival, as we have had trouble with the passport scanners in the past. No trouble this time, and no real time for a cold beer, as our bus was ready when we got to the Sun Holiday desk. Antonio was our driver, and the trip was smooth but eye-opening. The devastation is everywhere. He, along with nearly every staff member and driver we talked to, all thanked us for coming to the island in spite of it.
We arrived mid-afternoon, in time to sample the delicious jerk chicken at the Flame lunch grill. Chicken and patties were a daily treat there! So was iced coffee from the espresso bar. The only dining we did outside the buffets was at the Flame for dinner, and it was excellent as always. Love that quieter atmosphere, especially on travel day. Always enjoyed trying new foods at every meal. There really is something for even the pickiest eater.
Had my first massage on the beach this trip, and I highly recommend it. I made a point to buy something small from each of the vendors who visited the main pool area, as they rotate days and some are only there once a week. They are not resort staff, so there was a bit more pressure to buy. Again, all thanked us for being there. It was humbling to think that our presence was important to so many. We travel super light, so I bought sunscreen at the gift shop. Pricey but not outrageous - they have all you might need, if you forget anything. Enjoyed the lemongrass lotion provided in the room - saved me from checking a bag for that sort of stuff.
There was really not much evidence of hurricane Melissa impact for guests, other than no bananas, slightly fewer staff members about, and some tree damage. We lost power for a short time one afternoon, but impact was minimal. The grounds are amazingly well-kept. I brought a few donations bags for the staff, and the front desk received them graciously. Any and all help was very welcomed.
We didn’t take advantage of the many activities available. We enjoy that there’s no pressure to join in. Entertainment staff at the nude pool were great fun, keeping us all smiling even if we weren’t participating in their games. I always regret that I don’t remember more staff names, but all were very welcoming. Paulette at the main bar even made a point to say a farewell on our last trip up to the lobby.
We booked ClubMoBay for departure. Worth the price to have a light lunch and comfy chair while we waited for our flight. Surprisingly, airport repair/cleanup work at Sangster really didn’t impact our travel.
After several trips to H2, we’ve found we enjoy a hot tub room to have a private place to lounge and look at the ocean when we need a break from socializing. The best part? You can be active or lazy, party like a rock star or be a recluse - no judgment and no pressure. Try a new food, a new sport or spa treatment, make a new friend. It really is, as they say, no problem!
