Hedonism II Trip Report - Tim & Debbie June 15-20, 2025
June 15-20, 2025
This was our 7th or 8th trip to Hedo - we lost track a long time ago, but we’ve generally gone every other year, not including Covid. Both flights to and from Montego Bay, with 1 connection each way, were totally packed, but they were all luckily on time. The arrival process at MBJ has vastly improved since the end of COVID, so much so that the lines were moving much faster than in previous visits, and improved so much that the advantage of paying extra using MoBay wasn’t nearly the big time-saving advantage it used to be. We used the direct shuttle service both ways, and it is definitely worth the few extra bucks to not have to stop at several vanilla resorts before you get to Hedo, and then in returning to MBJ.
Our check-in was quick and easy. We booked the least expensive (ok, the cheapest !) room, because we’re cheap (!), plus retired on a fixed income. We were put on the prude side, in a block of rooms closest to the border with Sandals. The room was older, but everything worked ok, the longer walk to the “more fun” side isn’t an issue, and all we use the room for is for sleeping anyway. There was a worker painting the outside ceilings, which needed it, and we had to step through some canvas painting drop cloths all week, but so what, we were glad to see they’re trying to keep up the maintenance. I should mention that literally all of the staff we encountered - both in customer service and in maintenance - were friendly and helpful.
As for food - The buffet was basically the same as previous visits, just ok, not great, not horrible. We really like the remodeled and improved Harrysan , so much so that we ate there twice - the food was excellent, the chefs entertaining, and it’s an easy way to meet new people, as we go to Hedo solo, not part of a specific group (which also has its advantages & disadvantages). We went to the Flame once , wife liked it, I’m not as big a fan, mainly due to the more leisurely pace, which is fine if you’re in a big group, which we’re not. I was sorry we never tried it as a lunch grill, will try to do so on our next visit. Pastafari likewise was just OK, my main issue was the service was a little too leisurely for my tastes - again, we go as a couple, not as a group, so we don’t need a lot of extra slack time to chat & visit. The nude side snack bar was not changed , which is fine , but we did have one cook one day who was apparently having a bad day and was not very hospitable, but so what, we were enjoying the day anyway !
The nightly entertainment was good, pretty much the same quality overall as previous visits. I should mention the male & female act with the “dirty dancers” was fun to watch, and got your motor started for the evening (!) . The Nude pool EC’s were also always fun to watch, and we enjoyed watching the going-ons of the main group that was there that week and took over the DJ booth.
We’re much less into the nightly costume theme dressing up than we used to be (mainly so we don't have to pack as much luggage), and I’d say only about 1/3 to 1/2 of the guests actively dressed for the nightly themes & contests, but it was fun to watch the nightly costume judging contests. The nightly Entertainment acts were varied and pretty good as usual.
Being older farts, we don’t (can’t) do the “stay up till 3am” thing anymore (we’re usually conked out by midnight), so I can’t comment on the late night fun this time.
Checkout was fast and smooth, the direct van back to MBJ likewise, and again, it’s well worth the few extra bucks. All in all we had a good visit, and hope we can return next summer.
