Day 1: Saturday, December 7 – Arrival and First Impressions

Our journey began with a flight from Des Moines to Chicago, followed by a layover and a final leg to Montego Bay. I had nostalgic memories of exiting onto the tarmac as a kid, but this time I was pleasantly surprised with a jet bridge exit.

Once through customs—surprisingly fast with no issues—we hopped onto a private transport arranged by D. Everyone on the bus was heading to Hedo II, which added to the excitement. The driver was lively and engaging, and the trip to Negril flew by.

At the resort, we checked in, were greeted with strong welcome drinks, and settled into our room, which looked just as we had imagined. Exhausted from travel, we grabbed dinner at Pastafari, where I ordered lobster risotto, and Paige had pasta. As we ate, we met B, P, J, and L—soon-to-be lifelong friends who knew my mom from her 2018 trip. It was an amazing start to our adventure.

Nude Beach Fun:
The next day, we made our way down to the nude beach and were immediately welcomed by H and L, B and P, and J and L. Everyone was an absolute riot, and we felt like we had known them forever. The beach was filled with laughter, jokes, and a hilarious inside joke that started with someone shouting "Quack!"—which became a running gag that had everyone cracking up.

The energy and camaraderie on the beach set the tone for the rest of the trip. It was the perfect introduction to Hedo’s fun and welcoming vibe.

Day 2: Sunday, December 8 – Relaxation and Nurses and Doctors Night

Daytime:
We started the day with my new favorite breakfast: a one-pound bacon sandwich and a double espresso with rum cream. Afterward, we made our way to the nude beach for a day of relaxation. I spent much of the day napping on the beach and taking occasional dips in the nude pool. Lunch consisted of jerk chicken, quesadillas, and fries from the nude restaurant—a simple but delicious meal.

Evening:
That evening, we met I and R, another couple around our age and first-timers at Hedo as well. We immediately hit it off and enjoyed sharing our first impressions and excitement about the resort. We had dinner together at Flame, where the short rib was a standout.

After dinner, we enjoyed the Nurses and Doctors Night entertainment. The show was engaging, and we had a blast soaking in the fun vibe of the evening. Once the show wrapped up, Paige and I headed back to our room, showered, and called it a night, ready for Day 3.

Day 3: Monday, December 9 – Jamaican Night

Daytime:
We rinsed and repeated our morning routine, starting with breakfast and heading to the nude beach. I enjoyed another nap, joined the nude pool several times, and played bocce ball. By this point, I was fully settling into the rhythm of Hedonism life.

Evening:
Dinner that night was part of Jamaican Night—a feast on the beach featuring traditional Jamaican dishes like oxtail, goat curry, jerk chicken, and jerk rice. The flavors were bold and delicious, and it felt like a true cultural celebration. The sound of live music and the warm breeze made it even more special.

In between dinner and the fire show, we met A and J. They were friendly, engaging, and easy to talk to. As we chatted, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that they remembered my parents from their past visits to Hedo. It was a small-world moment that made the evening feel even more meaningful.

The fire show that followed was mesmerizing, with performers putting on an incredible display of skill and showmanship. After the show, we mingled a bit more before heading back to our room to shower and rest, excited for what Day 4 would bring.

Day 4: Tuesday, December 10 – EDM Night, Repeaters Party, and Tie-Dye Fun

Daytime:
We kicked off the day with the usual breakfast routine and headed down to the nude beach to join in on a tie-dye activity. Paige wanted a shirt but preferred to stay and read her book, so I took over. I got creative with the design, adding extra spirals in a strategic spot for a bit of humor, which earned me the nickname “Titty Man” from the entertainment team. Paige loved the shirt, and it turned out great.

Later in the day, I played bocce ball and won some Hedo Bucks before we enjoyed a lunch of jerk chicken from either the Nude Grill or Flame. In the afternoon, I took a long, relaxing nap on the beach to recharge for the evening festivities.

Evening:
Before EDM Night, Paige and I attended the Repeaters Party. Although we weren’t officially Repeaters, others encouraged us to attend since I was second-generation. The party was an absolute blast! I met R, a bartender, who was amazed when I spun and threw bottles like he did. Learning I was also a bartender earned me the best service for the rest of the trip.

Dinner that evening was at Harrysan, where we enjoyed a lively show as part of the dining experience. Afterward, we got dressed up for what was supposed to be EDM Night—though ironically, there wasn’t much actual EDM music! Instead, the night was filled with a mix of music genres and glow paint, but the vibe was still fun. Paige and I took photos in front of the Hedonism sign as a keepsake of the night.

By the time the night wrapped up, we were completely exhausted. We showered to clean off the glow paint and went to bed.

Day 5: Wednesday, December 11 – Fetish Night and Sailing Adventures

Daytime:
A and T invited us to sail, and A let Paige and me take a Hobbycat on our own while they followed in another. The water was choppy, and a rainstorm loomed, but the adventure was exhilarating. I felt my dad’s presence with me and captured some incredible footage.

Evening:
Dinner that evening was back at Pastafari, where we enjoyed another wonderful meal before preparing for Fetish Night.

With B’s help providing Paige with an outfit and my sarong and nipple covers, we were ready. The show was incredible—far exceeding our expectations. Paige later regretted not getting on stage, but it was a memorable night. Afterward, we showered and went to bed.

Day 6: Thursday, December 12 – Casino Night and Sunrise Reflection

Morning:
At 5 a.m., Paige and I went to the nude beach to honor my dad. I brought his ashes and one of his do-rags, tied the do-rag to a rock, and placed it in the ocean. As the sun rose, crabs emerged from the water, making me feel his presence. It was a deeply emotional moment.

Evening:
Dinner was at Flame, where we enjoyed another fantastic meal. Afterward, we headed to Casino Night, where I had a blast gambling with no real money at stake. I loved playing craps and blackjack, and the festive vibe made it even more fun. By the end of the night, we were completely spent. We showered and went to bed, ready for our final full day.

Day 7: Friday, December 13 – Pop Culture Night and Gala Dinner

Daytime:
We spent our final day soaking in the last of the sunshine and went for another sailing adventure with A and T. It was an incredible way to cap off the week, and I was so grateful for everything I had learned about sailing.

Evening:
Dinner that night was the Gala Dinner, a perfect send-off with elegant food and a celebratory atmosphere. After dinner, we dressed up for Pop Culture Night. Paige and I went as Fred and Daphne, while B and M completed our Scooby-Doo crew as Velma and Shaggy. This was one of the nights we got on stage and won Hedo Bucks.

We took photos, sang along to the music, and reflected on the amazing week. After one final night of celebration, we showered and went to bed, wishing we could stay longer.

Day 8: Saturday, December 14 – Farewell and Journey Home

Our last morning was spent checking on our commissioned sign, which turned out beautifully. We had our final meal at the resort before boarding the bus back to the airport with the same lively driver.

The trip home had its hiccups—delays in Dallas caused us to miss our connection, forcing an overnight stay and reroute through Phoenix. By Sunday afternoon, we were finally home.

Closing Reflections:
Leaving was bittersweet. We were already missing the people—B, P, D, J, L, H, L, C, A, J, I, R, and countless others—and the paradise we’d come to love. I know I’ve probably forgotten to mention some people and events, but everyone was amazing, and every moment added to the magic of the trip.

The resort met every expectation we had—and more. We’ve already caught the “Hedo fever” and will be doing everything in our power to make it back next year.
