Hedonism II Trip Report - Paul & Sue
WWW Dec 2024 Trip report
Traveled this trip on American, both ways. No airport issues on either end, thankfully. First time using Club MoBay, which turned out to help immensely. Had filled out my immigration form online, and printed for the confirmation number. MoBay rep who met us at the gate and saw that my passport wouldn’t scan correctly walked us right to an agent, who took my printout to verify that number. No time to enjoy the lounge on arrival, but that service alone was worth the booking price.
Sun Holiday: enjoyed watching our driver Antonio school one traveller who seemed anxious to share a lot of misinformation about Jamaica. Thankfully Antonio kept his sense of humor and managed to avoid most of the serious potholes on the road to Negril. Learned some things along the way!
Check-in at the resort was a breeze. Our room was ready when we arrived. Booked a CO Ocean View hot tub room. Great decision! I thought that category of room had water and juice supplied, but I might have misunderstood the offerings in each category. O’Neill took good care of the spa for us all week. We lost power for a time one afternoon, and had a short late-night stint without water, but neither really impacted much of the resort or our trip. As usual, grounds were immaculate and the room clean, if dated. Housekeeping kept us taken care of nicely as well.
Dinner menu at Flame had lots of delicious options, and is usually quieter than the main dining room for easier conversation. Breakfast and lunch had many tasty options, including my favorite fruit, lychee. Tried the made-to-order omelette bar, and enjoyed that, too. Dinner in the main dining room always has multiple options, making trying something new easy. Bring a brave palate and you’ll enjoy every meal!
No off-site excursions for us this time, though we’ve enjoyed the snorkel/cave swim catamaran trip on past visits. Bartenders at the nude pool, and Paulette at the main bar were always welcoming, and genuinely seemed to enjoy their work! Only issue we had was actually very late-night, very loud noise from a reception at the resort next door, and from some Hedo guests in our building who decided to have their own later-than-late-night room party. Thankfully neither lasted too long. We travel with only carry-on luggage, so grabbed our sunscreen at the gift shop. Easy choice in spite of higher prices there. Souvenirs and necessities were easily available, if not inexpensive. If you’d rather, you can buy from a couple of vendors who set up by the pool each day.
Transport to the airport was issue-free, and we enjoyed comfy chairs and tasty food and drinks at Club MoBay before departure. Recommend this option for the long wait time for your flight.
We love the vibe at Hedo, no matter how wild or mild the crowd. Not sure if it’s love in the air, or something else, but a welcoming spirit is evident in every employee we encountered. We hope they know their ordinary Tuesday can be a life-changing visit for any guest, and for that, we’re thankful. Hope to return home again soon.
