Hedonism II Trip Report - Sue
Dec 2023 WWW
We flew American this time, with no issues. Each visit to MBJ we find goes smoother than the last, and the new electronic check -n before customs made it go fast. No checked bags helps make it faster, too. Check-in with Sun Holiday went quickly, though we had to wait outside for their remaining passengers. Last trip, we were the reason for delay, so we didn’t mind waiting outside and in the bus for a bit. Happy to be on our way when we finally left the lot, though we may seek private transport for timesaving, next trip.
Check-in was smooth and quick, and we were late enough that our room was ready, no problem. Several new faces in the dining room staff (or maybe we were just paying attention), and good service at all points. Occasionally sat down unattended at breakfast, but not annoyingly so. Upgrades to Harrysan made a wonderful dinner experience even better, and all at our table enjoyed their meal and the show that serving it brings. Food and service at Flame was also great.
Brought presents for Denny & crew to drop at the school this year. Happy to see so many contributions and the chance to help out. Left property only once, to have lobster at Fireman's, down the beach. Great food, great to see a tiny local place do so well, and an interesting walk past the neighboring resorts. Folks all look a little bored!
Good service at the bars we visited, though the bartenders seemed a little more distant/distracted than last trip. Catamaran cruise to snorkel and swim at the caves was great. Verlene and crew took good care of us, though we missed D.J. and music aboard as we’ve experienced on other trips. Hubby lost his wedding ring diving off the catamaran, and the cliff divers found it almost immediately. Only issue all week was one I could’ve prevented: ATM in the lobby and at the dispensary weren’t working, so we struggled to find tip cash for the divers. Managed, but lesson learned to be prepared with a little extra, just in case.
Seemed a little off that the nude pool entertainment staff didn’t have games every day, and got chased away entirely by rain on our last day. Maybe our timing was off and we just missed them? On our last day, when we were leaving the pool to go back for dinner, walking behind H-block, I slipped on the wet sidewalk, landing on my backside. Staff were immediately with hubby and me, helping me up and making sure I was okay. I felt fine enough to sign the waiver to not have the nurse check out my ankle then and there, and limped up to dinner. The next morning I was really swollen and sore, so decided to seek out the nurse to wrap my ankle for traveling home. Even though it was before regular hours, staff was prompt and helpful in taking my story and getting me taken care of. I paid for the ace bandage, and we were on our way.
Check out was easy and quick, with no issues. Same for travel back with Sun. As our second trip to Hedo, we love what we’ve come to rely on - great options for food/drink everywhere you look, plenty to do (or not do, if lazy is what you’re after), and always interesting people to meet. We didn’t partake much in the late-night partying, but for the relaxing, no worries atmosphere, and happy hours at the pool, we’ll be back. Thanks, Hedo.
