Hedonism II Trip Report: Lyle - Dec. 2018

Trip Report
Hedonism II
10 – 24 December 2018

I visited Hedonism II 10 – 24 December 2018 and a brief summary of the visit is provided herein.

I flew from St. Louis to Montego Bay via Charlotte.  Even though Charlotte is a good connection city for this type of trip, it’s advisable to allow ample connection time for a winter trip to accommodate any minor delays due to weather, because the connecting flights are typically in different terminals.  The flights and connection in Charlotte were both very smooth and arrival in Jamaica was as planned.

Several flights were arriving at approximately the same time, so there was a large influx of arriving passengers.  Even with that, the Immigration and Customs phase of arrival was relatively smooth.  Immigration added more of the automated kiosks which made the arrival process more expedient.  So much so, that I was in the Customs hall at the baggage area before the bags were unloaded, with only a relatively short wait required before they arrived.  Customs processing was similarly smooth and expedient for my arrival.

I used Rocky’s Taxi & Tour Service for ground transport to Negril.  As promised, the Rocky’s rep was waiting outside and we got on our way without delay.  Unfortunately, there was a LOT of traffic in the airport area and all the way down to Negril for some reason.  The driver was very professional in coping with the traffic, but the traffic and a short rainstorm resulted in it taking longer than usual to get to Hedonism.

Check-in at the resort was very smooth and everything was ready for me upon arrival.

My room was in excellent condition and housekeeping did an excellent job of keeping everything very neat and clean during my visit.

I thought the food quality and variety was even better than past visits and the food and bar service in general was all very good.

Winston is doing an exceptional job with the Entertainment Department and I thoroughly enjoyed all the services they provided, and especially the evening shows when Winston performs on stage.

Management seems very focused on customer satisfaction and I thought they were very responsive to anything that needed their attention.  That mindset and focus seems to be evident with the rest of the staff too.

The weather was typical for December, but certainly not a problem.  Adding heating to the pools seems to have made a big difference because more people were spending more time in the pools.

I did venture off-campus a few times to listen to live music at the Boat Bar and at Drifters.  Both are favorite beach bars and I’d recommend them highly.  Music isn’t available every day, so be sure to check the schedule.

The property seems to be in very good condition and it appears a lot of people are working hard to keep it that way.

The morning of my departure, the Rocky’s rep arrived on time as promised and the trip back to the airport was quick and very smooth.

The departure from MoBay was on time and the flight was as promised.  Arrival in Charlotte was as planned and the Immigration and Customs processes were both literally a walk-through.  I actually didn’t have to wait in line at all in Immigration and Customs was the same way.  The flight to St Louis was on time as promised and the flight was very smooth.

Having visited Hedo for a long time, I’ve got a fairly good understanding of past problems and how things should be.  I realize there will always be people who have some sort of complaint, but I honestly have never seen the physical condition of the resort or the performance of management and staff better than it was for this visit.  Kevin Levee, Donna Grant, Lorna Brammer, and Winston Bartley all seemed very attentive and focused on customer satisfaction and making sure everything within the resort was the way it’s supposed to be.

That’s all for now……………
