Rod & Alexandra - July, 2008

Just got back from a visit to Hedo 2, and thought that I would submit my thoughts on it. We arrived in Jamaica without incident, and went through a smooth check-in, no doubt aided by the small group that was checking in. This was my first visit to Hedo 2, having already visited Hedo 3 twice before. My immediate impression was that this was definitely an older resort, which was confirmed by the dilapidated condition of the nude side room that we received. The room, which was no doubt adequate when it was new, suffered from neglect and badly needed new paint and refurbishing. The air conditioner was barely up to the task of cooling in the very humid conditions. The layout of the resort, however,  was nice, with meandering paths and lush vegetation. The beach was much nicer than that of the sister resort, with plenty of shade trees, and lovely clear water. The average depth of the water was very shallow, however, never going over four feet. But given how much consumption of ganja and alcohol is going on, this is, perhaps, not a bad thing (just stand up!!). Night walks were very pleasant, after some drinks and smoke, leading to lots of laughs and new discoveries. The staff was very friendly and helpful, although they clearly operated on "Jamaican time". But hey, smoke some more, and relax!

The bad aspects were as follows. The water slide was barely open, leading to more than one heated exchange by other guests with management. For a popular feature such as this, it's inexcusable. The nude side hot tub was, more often than not, not hot!! This led to impromptu takeovers of the prude side tub. This was kind of a drag, as most people wanted to play at night. It didn't slow us down, but things could have been livelier with a good operating temperature! The nude pool bar was not adequately staffed to handle the crowd, so after fruitlessly waiting for a drink, we decided to invade the prude side bar. Despite a few looks, this became a more viable option in the days that followed. It made for a nice stroll, as well. The food was pretty much average to mediocre, which was not un-expected. I did think that it was interesting that toga night is pretty much ignored now. What was a fun night at Hedo 3, is now an apparent inconvenience for the management at Hedo 2. Toga material is no longer delivered to the rooms, and can only be obtained by bugging the front desk As a result, most people arrived for dinner in their regular clothes, and the following disco night was a non-event. What a shame. PJ night was much more fun, as everyone brought their stuff from home.

The fourth of July was the highlight of the trip for us. A small, but lively crowd of naked people followed a marching band down the beach to the neighboring resorts, to the surprise of their clothed guests. Too much fun!!

Final thoughts-is the party over?? It seemed that the resort was filled with jaded, older guests, who seemed too cool or bored to have any spontaneous fun. The crowd seemed hesitant to take the sexual plunge, unless under the cover of darkness. Although we are not hard core swingers, more often than not we were the first to start things going. A lot of talk, and not much action. Happily, there were a few other couples who were not only fun, but genuinely friendly. Hey folks, we're all getting older ( we are in our early 50's), but we're not dead yet! Lighten up!! So although we had fun, it seems a visit to Desire is our next destination. Mexico may not be as ganja friendly as Jamaica, but it seems to have everything else in a nicer package. Someone turn off the lights as you leave.
