Trip report March 25-April 1
This was the first time we booked our trip through Denny P and was very impressed with the service that we got. Anytime I e-mailed a question or Phil called him, he was always quick to return with the information needed. Highly recommend Denny and will never use anyone else for our Hedo adventures.
We arrived at Logan Airport 2 hours prior to our flight. No problems getting through security and such. Had a stop in Charlotte, NC. Arrived in Mobay on time, even though it was a little confusing because they had not done the time change like we had in the US. Getting through customs and immigration was a lot smoother and quicker than in past trips. I think requiring everyone to have passports made things so much easier. Our luggage arrived on time this trip (big sigh of relief). Our good friends Nate and Carol waited for us in the Superclubs lounge…and then we were on our way.
The trip to Negril was quite smooth. Had one pit stop and a Red Stripe never tasted so good. Made one stop to drop off other vacationers to Grande Lido, then we backed up the drive way and we were on our way to paradise.
This was our first trip to Hedo 2. We had been to Hedo 3 a few times before, so this was a change for us. Check in was a breeze and our room was ready right away. We chose run of the house and really lucked out and got garden view nude. We really found it to be right in the middle of everything and there was never too far of a walk to anywhere we wanted to be.
Rooms: the rooms were clean and there was never a problem with hot water or towels. The rooms are not as new or as big as Hedo 3, but then again, how much time does anyone actually spend in a room? The A/C was definitely working overtime, but there was never a problem keeping the room comfortable.
Food: Breakfast was always good. Phil always loved getting the omelets. I was a little bummed out that they did not have rum toast (a daily thing at hedo 3). There was always plenty of food and service was fairly good. Did have to get our own coffee a few mornings, but no worries. At lunch, we never left the nude pool. Ate there everyday at the nude grill. Thought the food was great. Never tasted such a good grilled cheese sandwich. The jerk chicken late in the afternoon was awesome. Service was always good too. Night buffet was ok. The food was not fabulous, but edible. There was only one night that we both found it a stretch to find something we liked. Pastafari’s was awesome. The ambiance was great and food was fantastic. It felt like you were someplace else. Munasan’s was great as well. Dinned with great friends and had some wonderful laughs. There was plenty of food and it was great.
PDA’s: oh yeah, there were plenty of those and even participated in several. The dice game was a whole lot of fun…thanks Andrea and Rob. Even after the dice floated away, we kept on playing. Loved the hammocks and lounge chairs on the beach at night. Had a lot of fun at the nude pool during the day and the random pda’s were great. Oh Kenny, too funny for me to use some lady’s back as a place to put my drink. Hot tub at night was always hoppin’. Security was visible if needed, but never interfered with everyone’s fun. Security did escort one gentleman out of the nude pool area late one night….but then again, he had absolutely no clue where he was.
Entertainment: the reggae night was great, the conga drum display was incredible; we had seen them last year at Hedo 3 and were psyched to see them again. They have incredible energy. The other nights were ok, nothing too exciting. The house band did a great job. Fut the Wuck (Marty) joined the Roots Explosion Band as well as in the piano bar with his harmonica. This was an absolute treat and he brought the house down. Only complaint is the music getting too loud during dinner to have a conversation. When this happened, it was time to move someplace else. Pj night and Toga night was a lot of fun. Great outfits. Did notice there was not a lot of participation with toga night, less than half of the people. The policy of “no sheet no eat” was not in affect. The body art lady did an amazing job on each and every night she painted folks. She was able to match the bottoms of whatever someone else was wearing and it looked amazing. Kudos to her, she was great.
EC’s: they were definitely around. Did not work very hard at getting folks involved. Half the time we had no idea that there were activities happening. The one time I did participate in an activity, I almost left. I am sure anyone who was around the table to witness this will remember how angry I was. Time to paint rocks to put around the resort. First I was told my rock was too big (no bigger than the rocks of the others) and then I was yelled at by Gavin that I was using too much paint. I think he could have handled it a little differently and suggested nicely to spread the paint using water. People will not want to participate if they are going to be yelled at and insulted. The other EC’s were great, Sunshine was able to find Phil tape to wrap his wooded fish up for transport home. That was a huge help.
Weather: the weather was fantastic. The temperatures were in the mid 80’s everyday and hardly any clouds. And when there were clouds, Greg could take care of it within a half an hour…way to go Greg!! It did shower early one morning, but it only lasted about 3 minutes and moved out.
People: the people were amazing. Everyone was incredibly friendly and accepting of everyone. The one couple that put a smile on our face was the couple who must have been in there 70’s walking with canes over to the nude side. He would get his wife situated and then go float in the pool with his noodle. He actually left his noodle for us to float around with for the rest of the week. This was awesome to see, it gave a lot of hope for Phil and I to know that as we age, we can still go to hedo and have a great time and be accepted by all. The friends we met down there definitely left an impact on us. First of all, Carol and Nate…you two are the best. We are so glad that we were able to vacation again together. You two are great, we miss you already. Every year we get together is better than the last. Carol, don’t lose that savage tan. New folks we met, some we e-mailed prior to the trip, some we did not. Either way, we met some great people. Derick and Trish..what can we say, we won’t forget the beach and all the laughing. We can still here you two laughing in our heads. Hope to see you guys soon, since you live fairly close (as the crow flies). Rob and Andrea, we had a blast getting to know you too. Rob and your daily cannonballs. Greg and Dare thanks for the great cigars and company. Greg, thanks for making the clouds disappear. Cindy and Shane, great fun with the dice game. Good to get to know Angelo and Sue as well, good conversation outside the piano bar. And then there was Kenny (little brother). Great conversation and laughed so hard I cried (Munasan’s). Kenny you are an absolute sweetheart and will definitely keep in touch. It was great to meet you and your dad. You go big bamboo. Whoever I forgot, because I know I have, I am sorry, remember I am awful with names, but will never forget a face. Thanks for all the great memories.
Complaints: there were very few. The music at the nude pool needs to be looked at. The music at times was way too loud and ready to blow the speakers out with too much bass. The music needs to be turned down so conversations can happen. Also, whoever has the key to the CD player needs to be more accessable. The food at the buffet could be stepped up a bit. Would love to see rum toast added to the breakfast menu. Other than that, Hedo 2 has our vote over Hedo 3. Will definitely be back next year. The countdown is on…
