Gary & Mary - December, 2007

We just got back from our 4th trip to Jamaica and our third trip to Hedo II.  Needless to say we had a great time and are planning our next trip already.  We booked a charter out of Minneapolis.  After a 4 hour flight we arrived in Montego Bay.  After what seems like a very long walk and a short wait in immigration lines, we arrived at baggage claim to find our bags already unloaded.  Another short wait for customs and at the Super Clubs desk and we were on our way.  We were traveling on the Saturday before Christmas and the traffic was heavy in a couple of the small towns on the way.  Our driver made a couple detours to avoid traffic jambs and got us to Hedo II with even a potty (beer) stop in about 1 1/2 hours.

Check in was a breeze, however we were initially disappointed to be in the building farthest from the nude beach.  As it turned out, this wasn't a problem at all.  The only inconvenience was that out of respect for the non-nude guests, we nearly always used just a towel as a wrap when coming from or going to the nude beach which is where we spent most of our time.

We did go to the church down the road from Hedo II on Sunday and Christmas day.  We got there early and visited with the priest for a short while.  I do have a confession to make though.  I lied and told him we were at Breezes when he asked where we were staying (ha!).  We took a taxi on the way to church both times and we walked the beach back.   Firefly Beach Cottages are located on the beach almost directly across from the church.  While drinking a beer at the bar next to Firefly, we commented staying at Firefly surely would be boring compared to Hedo II.

The days all seem to run together.  We never had any time we felt we were bored.  The male half played volleyball every day (nude when possible).  We took a kayak out for a couple hours one day.  Another day we took a catamaran out.  We took a couple hours and went for a walk on the beach at Bloody bay another day. We went snorkeling and saw the cannon and the anchor which is on the reef just off the Hedo property.   We went on the optional nude catamaran cruise and had a great time.   In our opinion, this optional trip shouldn’t be missed.  We really enjoy the nude snorkeling, the swimming at the cliffs, and Rasta.

There seemed to be a lack of enthusiasm on the part of the EC's.  It seemed most of the posted events were not supported by any of the resort staff and didn't happen.  Of the two nude invasions of the prude side for naked water slide, both were instigated by guests.  Nude volleyball happened only twice.  We did see rock painting and body painting with limited participation.

Winston was back at Hedo II during our week at Hedo II.  He is studying acting and management in Columbus, Ohio and was in Jamaica on Christmas break.  Ray-Ray was spotted on our last day.  Delroy and Sumba were regulars at the nude beach bar.  Don’t ask us about any of the other bars, because we only frequented one (ha!).

We ate breakfast every day in the main dining hall.  It was always very good.  We only ate lunch in the main dining hall once and that was the day of the wet T shirt contest.  Other days we would get something to eat at the nude beach grill.  Yes, Robert is gone and he is missed, however the people running the grill are doing a great job.  We had jerk chicken every afternoon.  This might be why my comments which follow about dinner are what they are.  Maybe we just weren't all that hungry.

We have commented many times, we don't go to Hedo II for the food.  Perhaps it is because we are from the Midwest and we are more accustomed to steak and potatoes.   We are not into exotic cuisine.  We found the meat offerings often very tough and either tasteless or spicier than we desired.   We never left the dining hall hungry, so we certainly can't say it was bad.

We are amazed how friendly and efficient the dining room staff is.  They always provided service with a smile and we never waited for anything.

Toga night and PJ night were the highlights of the theme nights.  It seemed that a majority of the guests participated.  The Friday night gala was fun with the circus show and the party on the beach afterwards was really quite a hoot.

As for PDA’s, yes there were some.  At the hot tub as the sun was going down, you could always find people getting amorous.  Again later in the evening when the hot tub reopened you would again find people getting frisky.  Two sums (m/f or f/f), three sums, and more sums were frequently enjoying themselves.  One afternoon a couple got involved in a full fledged PDA/S on a lounge chair nearest the guard shack by Point Village.  No one complained and security didn’t interrupt.

Our trip was great.  We visited with several people about Hedo II and other places we have all visited.  It seems the consensus is the same, nothing compares to Hedo II.  At other places, the food may be better, the beach better, the facilities better, but no other place provides as much fun and enjoyment.  This is why we along with many others keep returning to Hedo II.  We know that we never reach the level of many of the repeaters, however we hope to return to Hedo II as many times as we are able.
