Rob & Kris - March, 2003

Trip report: March 2003

Kris and I flew charter out of St. Louis. We got a great deal through Worry-free vacations. 2001 dollars for seven nights airfare included. We have been to Negril 10  times and to Hedo on day passes but this is the first time we have actually stayed AT Hedo.  The War in Iraq is just getting started so everyone is afraid to fly I guess. Kris and I just hoped that if they did decide to blow up our plane that they would do it on the way back so we can at least get our moneys worth.

Arrive at MBJ and go to the left line in immigration as we have been here 10 times previous and know that this is the line that fills up the last.  First in line and sail through immigration and head for the SuperClubs desk. Within 10 minutes we are in the bus and heading toward the west end. Meet a couple that are staying at GLN and have a nice conversation. Invite them to visit us at Hedo across the street but don't see them again until the return trip to the airport. Obligatory stop halfway for Redstripes for 20 minutes and still make the trip in 1 and a half hours.

We arrive at Hedo and debus at the front desk. We have booked SuperSelect which means run of the house. I asked if we can upgrade and hear "no problem mon".
We end up in GVN in room 2131 and are set for the week.

It is now 11 oclock and its either off to the lunch room or off with the clothes and to the pool area. (Guess which one we picked)?

Arrive at Delroys and have a couple of drinks and go down to the dive shack to make appts to dive the next day.

Around 5 oclock, we decide to take a nap as we got up at 4 to catch a 6 am flight.  We wake up at 930 and realize we have missed supper. We hurry to the buffet only to find that it has been taken back to the kitchen. We are standing there I am sure slackjawed (and hungry) when one of the servers (Andrew?) asks if we would like for him to get us a plate from the kitchen. We say yes and he brings us two plates piled high with (table scraps?) the most delicious food .(we were hungry at the time). Needless to say we took care of our server later in the week.

Have a couple more drinks and from then on the week becomes a blur of PDA's (ours and others), alcohol, water slides, bodyshots, hottub, jerk chicken, late night parties.

Here are some random memories of our trip.

During the week, I would get in to a routine of getting up early (and let Kris sleep) to go to the tv room and watch the war briefings for an hour and then go set up our chairs on the beach and pool for the day. Spar with Agustus a while and enjoy the early morning.

Get Kris up and go to breakfast, head down to the dive shack and get ready for our daily dive. O'Neil is our divemaster for the week and he is fabulous. Have dove Negril many times but the places he takes us we have never been to before and they are beautiful.

We met the couple that made our whole trip the second day we were there. We were sitting in the pool when two lost souls came up and introduced themselves. Chris and Susie from Chicago. They booked prude side with the intention of never leaving and were so bored to death that when they saw the nude group coming over to the water slide having so much fun that they decided to make the leap. We had so much in common that we spend many an hour getting aquainted.

Spring break is in full bloom and there are a lot of college kids on day passes and night passes on the resort. Something strange about partying naked with youngsters your kids ages. (but they are nice to look at) (remind me not to let my kids come to Jamaica on spring break).

Met a couple one night in the piano bar (what a place!!) that were visiting from GLN. Very upright (tight) and proper. She sings a few songs during the night and he is enjoying himself.  Kris and I head for the hot tub and notice them arriving.  They start to enjoy themselves orally (him on her) on the side. A little later we look up and there is another female in his place. They go at it a while and finish (we are watching all the time, go figure). Then the giver extends her hand and says to the receiver "Hi, my name is Ann."  (I love this place.)

I have nothing against lifestylers (we are not) as long as they are upfront with their intentions but we did meet a couple that were a little devious with their escapades. She would make the rounds of the hottub while he would lay back and wait.  He would kind of sit back in the corner while she would make the rounds and when she would draw some interest he would come and try and close the deal. (Is this normal?)  They were a nice couple, (she laughed at my jokes anyway) but always had to kind of watch ourselves around them.

Anyway, the last night we were there,  in the hottub Chris and Susie and Kris and I decided to play a cruel joke on them. We sat in the hottub and socialized with them and during the course of talking we sort of switched partners. Susie sat close to me holding ands and Chris and Kris sat very close together. During the conversation, Susie and I hold hands and get up and head to the beach and leave Chris and Kris to carry on a conversation. They said that the looks on the other couples faces were priceless.

Piano bar was a great end to many days as the entertainment and goodwill that Dave provides for the resort is money well spent.

All and all a great trip and we are planning another trip in July.

Hope this wasn't too boring.
