Kris, Hedo II, October 30 through November 5
This was my fourth trip to Hedo and wow! they just keep
getting better. I boarded the plane early Saturday morning and within five
minutes of take off the lady sitting next to me asks her husband if they
should hit Robert's when they get there. I glanced over at her and casually
asked if they were headed to Hedo because I heard her mention Robert's. She
confirmed that they were and we made fast friends. We had a fun flight and
waited patiently for 45 minutes at immigration before we could finally get
to the bus. The bus ride was one of the most fun rides I've had. We met
another guy going to Hedo and the four of us starting drinking Red Stripes
and talking about our previous trips. The great thing about Hedo is that I
had just met these three people and we were laughing and talking like old
friends. A betrothed couple and her parents joined us on the bus... they
were heading to Grand Lido to get married and I seriously think they were
afraid of us. They stayed clear of our conversation and practically ran off
the bus when it dropped them off at Grand Lido. The groom was truly afraid
when we joked that we would stop over at their beach wedding in nothing but
our birthday suits and he surprisingly declined our offer to have one last
"fun" night with us at Hedo. His loss!
The friend I normally room with brought a friend of hers this
year, so it was the three of us in the room. It worked out well since they
brought in another bed, however the shower leaked a lot and with three girls
showering the bathroom and room became a swampy mess. I soon found out that
other people's showers leaked as well. The remodeled room and bathrooms are
great, but perhaps they should silicone them.
This was my first Halloween and I loved it. The show was
great and Gilligan's Island, Hedo Style was the best. StuporMan is certainly
my hero.
On Monday (only two days into the trip) I had a little too
much sun and ocean floating and not enough water or food and decided to
quench that thirst with three hummingbirds and some beach bar dancing with
dear Louie. Well, I'm not sure if the hummingbirds had anything to do with
it, so I'm blaming Louie, :) but it was all just too much and I started to
pass out. It was the scariest thing that has ever happened to me and I
didn't get to thank the people that ran over to help. One lady was a
critical care nurse, one man was a doctor along with two paramedics helped
me out and the Hedo nurse was very sweet. Needless to say, I drank a lot of
water the rest of the week and only had one flaming Bob Marley the whole
week. I appreciate what those people did to help me feel better. And
RastaBill made sure I made it to bed safely! :)
On Tuesday more of my friends came strolling in... NeudMike
and Jamie. We helped Jamie celebrate his birthday that night along with
RastaBill. After dinner and a stroll around, the three of us checked out the
hot tub. Gotta love the hot tub at night... I finally saw my first show and
it was a good one. I've put on a show in the hot tub before, but had never
seen one. Hmmm...that was a fun night with my friends in the hot tub...ahhh
the moments... I'll never forget Mike and I saying all week, "Yup, it rained
today and I unpacked."
Wednesday night was very fun...more friends like Barry and
Sharon (whom I adore) arrived at the repeaters party, dinner was excellent,
my girl friends and I had our legs painted with henna and the band after
dinner played some great songs. We all danced and Mike and I shared a moment
slow dancing. The disco was hopping that night and I didn't earn my nickname
for nothing 'cause I was on that waterslide nekkid at 2 a.m. Mike and I
headed back to the room after another fun day at adult summer camp.
Togo night was fun as usual and more partying at the disco
followed. After dancing I started packing my bags since I left Friday
afternoon, and I wanted to make the most of the early morning sun.
Friday morning I floated in the ocean as long as I could and got some sun to
tide me over the long winter that I was returning home to. On the the way
back to Mike's room we were delighted to hear that Jack had arrived and went
to welcome him. Jack is one of the greatest guys and I'm glad I got to spend
a little time with him. The six of us hung out in Mike's room until I had to
made the dreaded walk to the exit and waiting taxi to GNAT. The guys all
walked me up and bid me a fond farewell. I was jealous that they still had
two weeks of vacation in front of them yet and I was heading home. I love
those guys like brothers (well, sort of not really like brothers, but you
know what I mean) (big smile) ... they are all the best.
I had never taken an AirLink flight and was terrified
thinking that this little plane could not hold three girls, two pilots and
all the luggage that accompany three girls. My friend Leinie held my hand
the entire way, and I think the pilot thought I was crazy because I keep
asking if they had paradutes on the plane. Yes, I said paradute...hang out
in the ocean one day to know what I mean.
I did indeed survive that little flight and loved how fast
and convenient it was, but I haven't decided if I'll fly or bus it next
time. I'm already packed for next year and have a signed affadavit...
same time, same place, same great friends! I've attached a picture of me and
the boys.
Respect,
Kris aka Krissie the 2 a.m. nekkid
