Hedonism II
May 6 - 12, 2004
This was our second visit to Hedonism II, the last being in November of 2001. At that time they were in the beginning stages of the renovations. Preferring Hedonism III we wanted to check out Hedonism II and see how it has changed. We also decided to travel with lifestyle friends this time. Its an island babe, if you didnt bring it with you then your not going to find it. So to speak.
Transportation
We flew Air Jamaica as in the past and did not have any problems. The
flight is one hour and ten minutes and with the time change we practically got
there the same time we left. More or less. When we arrived in Montego Bay we
were stuck in the customs line for at least a good forty five minutes. We were
traveling with friends and unfortunately got in a separate line. They some how
got through a little quicker and had to wait for us. We took Tim Air during
our last visit but decided this time to take the bus since the road has been
improved. The bus ride was long. We didnt think the driver wanted to get
there fast. It was like he was in first gear the whole way. After about an
hour we stopped for red stripes then it was back on the bus for the rest of
the ride.
Check in
Our room was ready and our friends room was not. So we had a drink and
showed them the resort. We were impressed with the changes and looked forward
to enjoying them. We were assigned room 2104 and our friends 2105 above us.
They had to change their room because the air conditioning didnt work. So
they were moved into room 2102, two doors down from us. The staff was very
nice.
Weather
It was bright and sunny the first day but every day after that it rained
each day beginning at noon and ending around 7:00 P.M. What was depressing was
that you could look across the cove and see sun shining on the surrounding
beaches. We said screw it and just stood out in the open in the pool and
Jacuzzi. A costly move since we all got sick. We witnessed several spills on
the wet tile. One resulted in a broken arm.
Construction
Lots of it. We were told that there goal is to complete it by years end.
Work began early and ended late. At times it was too much, too loud. Also the
workers were distracted by some of the nudity.
Nude Pool / Beach
Undoubtedly the beach is nicer than Hedonism III and the pool area is
larger. At Hedonism III one of us would get up around 7:30 P.M. and head out
to the pool area to get a chair only to find that everyone else had the same
idea or they were already catching some rays. Not the same at Hedonism II. You
can get a chair by the pool even at noon. Nice, but that means that by the
time people started to arrive it rained. There was no time to socialize. We
thought that since people didnt arrive at the pool or beach until noon was
because they were out all night. We were at the Jacuzzi until 4:00 A.M. and
saw only a few couples and a hand full of single guys playing with themselves
We were in the disco late, still no one to be found. We hit the other hot tubs
throughout the resort, the water slide, the lobby, the gym, the piano bar, you
name it, no one was to be found. I guess it is early to bed, late to rise. We
just dont get it. At Hedonism III it is late to rise, late to bed.
Sexual Activities
One after noon before the rain set in, the four of us made it out to one
of the floating platforms and had some fun. We saw nothing in or around the
pool area other than what we started. Since we caught the last part of the
Miss No Swim Suit Competition we hoped that there would be other lifestyle
couples there. At Hedonism III we have found that people send signals that
they are lifestyle. It was hard to recognize it at Hedonism II. So we decided
to seek out couples that we were attracted to and ask if they were lifestyle.
We did find a few and had a very nice time hanging our with them. We actually
had a nice little group and pulled in others that we met. We would make a
reservation for eight and we would each find a couple that wanted to dine with
us. We have done this before and it has worked perfectly. By the end of the
trip we were dinning with six couples.
The entertainment crew was very nice and organized games like ring toss, rock painting and so on. Unlike Hedonism III we did not see body shots, wrestling, beer showers, match your mate or other games. The sexual vibe was just not there. Maybe it was an off week. A bad week at Hedonism III was better than this past week.
Food
We thought the food was great a Pastafaris and Munasun. We did not care
for the Scotch Bonnet which is basically seating night time seating on the
prude pool deck. We were told that there are plans to construct a building to
house the restaurant. The menu is authentic Jamaican food which is not for
everyone. We only ate breakfast in the main dinning room but we heard from
those who ate dinner there that the food was not that great.
Something else that we noticed was that at Hedonism II breakfast and lunch is served later than Hedonism III. The first morning there we got up early and exercised. At 8:00 A.M. breakfast was still not out. 8:30 A.M. still breakfast was not ready. The same thing with lunch. Lunch is served at 12:30 P.M. At Hedonism III things start earlier and end later.
Overall View
We gave Hedonism II a second chance and still prefer Hedonism III better.
Hedonism II does have a nicer beach and lots of room to wander but the smaller
Hedonism III gives people the chance to socialize. We met a very nice couple
and asked if they had just arrived and they said no they were there all week
and, were heading home. They must have been on the beach most of the time. The
crowd at Hedonism II seems to be a little bit older maybe because they have
been going there for sometime. Hedonism III seems to draw a younger crowd,
although you will find people all ages there. The rooms at Hedonism III are
much nicer and larger. Even the refurbished Hedonism II rooms are smaller.
They remind us of a well used Motel Six or dorm. We prefer the tropical
colored buildings of Hedonism III than the drab gray of Hedonism II. Also
there seems to be more smokers at Hedonism II maybe because the younger crowd
at Hedonism III knows the dangers of it. We must of second hand smoked a
carton during our visit.
Would we go back? Probably yes as long as it is with a lifestyle group. Will we return to Hedonism III next? Yes. What we will probably do is to split the time between the two resorts that way we get the best of both worlds.
Each time we go to Hedonism we always ask people if they have heard of
www.dennyp.com . At first our friends asked if were getting a kick back but then learned that a lot of people have visited the site. Those who have not heard of it were told about what a great resource it is. Approximately 80% of those polled have heard of it. Great job Denny! In closing we are glad that we have made some new friends and hope to stay in contact with them like all of the others that we have met at both Hedonisms.
