This was our third trip during the first week
of February with the Chili Pepper group. Most of the Peppers
would be arriving on Friday and Saturday. We were off work
anyway so we went down on Thursday for an 8 night stay.
Our flight with
Air Jamaica from Atlanta (we drove from Tennessee and spent the
night in Atlanta) was on time when we landed in MoBay around
11:30 a.m. The airport was extremely busy. Three or four planes
from the U.S. landed at near the same time. We were going to
take the bus when we noticed the Superclubs desk was very
busy. We asked at the taxi counter how soon we could leave and
how much it would cost with no stops. He said leave now Mon and
$80 U.S. We talked him down to $60 for us both and were on our
way. We know, we know. Some would say this was a waste of money
when the bus is free, but we were glad we did. We had a very
nice driver named Raymond that was like an encyclopedia on
Jamaica and had the answer to every question we asked. Most fun
we ever had getting to the resort. Most people say it is a hour
bus ride to Negril (how long to get the bus moving?), but the
people on the plane from Atlanta with us arrived a little over 1
1/2 hours after we did. I don't think TimAir could have beaten
us there by much.
Check-in was smooth and we were in the room location we had
asked for in a very short time. Walked back to the dining room
and had lunch. Overall, we thought the main dining room was
somewhat better this year. Food was most always fresh and
tasty.
Couldn't
wait to get to Delroy's for a "Dirty Banana". Guess what? Out of
bananas. Funny thing is we had just saw bunches and bunches in
the dining room.Hmmmm?? Just a minor bump in an otherwise
wonderful first day. Had a great time at the toga party and
enjoyed some hot tub time before retiring. We have always found
it a good idea to get plenty of rest the first night.
Two Pepper couples
from Ohio arrived on Friday and managed to get rooms close to
ours. We had hoped to float for a while, but it was very windy
for the next three days and seemed to always calm late in the
evening. Jerk chicken was great as always and the hot tub
was very busy as the sun went down. We had one of the best
dinners ever at Munahana. Food was excellent!
We got a table near the stage to watch the show. It was very
good this year with some new acts. A few of us participated in
the fun. Danced the night away and ended another great day at
Hedo.
On Saturday the Pepper
invasion started. They arrived from California, Florida, New
Jersey, and Colorado (missed our Nebraska buddies this trip). By
5:00 pm we were all in the hot tub. Needless to say, the crazy
antics of the Chili Peppers had everyone in the hot tub watching
and laughing. Pastafari set things up nicely for our large group
at dinner. Again, we thought the food was great. The Peppers
heated up the disco after dinner. It was empty when we arrived
but it wasn't long until it was getting full. My how those Vinnies
and Wallys love to watch the Pepper ladies put on a show on the
dance floor. Soon headed for the hot tub. Hot tub was a busy
place most every afternoon and night.
On Sunday some of our group went to Margaritaville to watch the
Super Bowl. They returned early and everyone had dinner from the
buffet. The singers and the band sounded great this night. We
danced what seemed like forever at the main stage. An Ohio
couple from our group won the dance contest with some wild
gyrations.
Monday
morning at the beach, our amateur fashion designer, G V as we
call him, gave all the Pepper girls a tank T-shirt . It is
amazing what that man can do with a Sharpie and a pair of
scissors. He designed each girl a sexy and unique two-piece
outfit from the shirts. The plan was for a fashion show at the
main stage before the wet-T contest. Everyone loved the ho-made
slut-wear and all the girls ended up participating in the wet-T.
Every lady at the resort wanted a GV design.
What
happened next is something you hope never happens on vacation.
We stopped by our room for a minute on the way back to the
beach. Walked in and saw the message light on the phone
blinking. We had a family emergency and needed to get home right
away. You can imagine how we felt. It was very hard to think
straight. What happened next was something we will never forget.
Our dear Pepper friends took charge for us in our time of need.
A few packed our luggage, someone was at the front desk working
with the staff to get us a flight, someone else booked TimAir
and a taxi. The rest were there to comfort us.
We got the message around 2:30 and were on an AJ flight for
Atlanta by 5:30. If we had not made this flight we would have
had to wait until the next day. Thanks to our wonderful friends
we were home in the shortest time possible.
We missed spending time with our friends, but they kept us there
in spirit. We had painted a rock the first day with our names
and a heart on it and placed it in front of our door in case the
Vodka Slushies impaired our ability to remember our room number.
The pictures (see below) sent by our friends have been too cool.
That rock was at dinner every night, went on a cat cruise, to
the piano bar, and the Pepper ladies kept it very warm indeed.
We cannot wait to see our friends again. It is true......Hedo
friends ARE the best friends in the world!!!
