Bob & Linda - 12/03

our second visit to hedo was supposed to be for new years eve 2004.....we flew out of dtw on sunday the 28th @ 6:00am and arrived in jamaica @ 9:30 a.m. ready for some island fun.......we waited at the super clubs desk for everyone for about 15 minutes and then we were off to our bus and on our way to negril.our first trip to hedo was by all accounts a bust as we did all the wrong things,so this time i was determined to have fun with my wonderful wife.we prepped for our trip by reading trip reports from this site (thanks denny) and buying chris santillis book about hedo.............we loaded on the bus and met an awesome couple who was very friendly and nice,and they kept us company for the bus ride...we also saw tony who works for super clubs riding to hedo 2 times per day then back to mobay...tony is a very nice hard working jamaican who deserves more than a shitty job where he is not supposed to get tips.we stopped at a really nice small place for our red stripes and some ganja and we were in negril before we knew it....(11:00 a.m.) our room wasnt ready so we had some drinks then some lunch and presto our room was ready ocean view prude side.....we stayed on the prude sise for 2 reasons...first one was $$$$$$$$$ second one was we allways new we could get some quiet alone time no problem on the prude side at anytime!!!!our room was clean with an excellent view of the ocean1114 was the room #.we got comfy and i rolled a hooter and we were off to the nude pool........we got to the pool and met some great people who were friendly and not the staring kind...the weather was awesome and a little hot so we layed down in the misting part and i went and ordered my fries from roberts grill...i ate my fries complete with my burger king catsup and things were looking good........we then went around 3 and took a nap as we wanted to stay up later than 8 that night due to fatigue from traveling....we got up went to dinner and i had some oxtail which was really good.linda had chicken and rice as she was afraid of getting sick from the food.while eating dinner wemet some new friends and then we went for a walk on the beach smoked some ganj,and then we went and played pool and checked out the new traing room with all the new equiptment..we were gonna hit the treadmill the next day.we then went to the piano bar where we saw dave and all of his cool people laughing and having fun.

it was at this time i started to feel this strange pain in my gut on the right side.i tried drinking milk that didnt help.i smoked some more ganj thinking that i over ate and that didnt help either so i went and laid in the room with linda and we started to watch a movie on my dvd that i brought for the plane ride.we fell asleep and i woke up at 7 a.m. feeling worse than before so i went back to sleep.linda woke me at 9:30 and we went to eat breakfast and i swear i was gonna barf all over,only i hadnt ate yet! after breakfast we went to the nude pool and laid out until i could no longer take the pain,so we went to our room and called the doctor.after struggling to get the nurses station,the doctor came.at a cost of $120.00 american.he is a very nice good guy out of canada.he felt my stomach and told me that my appendix was about to burst!imagine the horror you feel being in a third world country knowing you need an operation!he then gave me my options....either go to the public hospital and take my life in my hands or if i had money,fly to mobay and go to the private hospital,paying up front for the cost of the medical care!!!! linda went into a panic as she didnt bring a credit card thinking that there was no freakin way she would need one at hedo.thankfully i brought not one but 2 just in case! well the just in case saved my life!the doc said that i should fly out immediately to mobay and he called timair and they fired up a plane just for me and linda...being in such a rush we only grabbed a few things from the room and then we left.the cost was $140.00 american.we got to mobay in 15 minutes and they had a wheelchair waiting for me and i was wheeled to a waiting cab for a $ 30.00 cab ride (about 20 min) to mobay hope.i got to the hospital and they took me right in as the doc from hedo called ahead.they took blood,and with it being a holiday (week between x-mas and new years) i had to wait 2 hours for the results which came back negative,strangely enough.they finally rounde up the surgeon and the anistegeologist (sp?) and i was in surgery at 11 p.m. i was out of surgery at midnight and saw my appendix that was 3 fingers thick! it was about to burst.i then fell asleep with linda on a mattress on the floor to watch over me....(very nice of the hospital!) the next morning a lady from hedo called to make sure i was alive which was very cool.linda then called a cab,$25.00 and went to get our stuff from hedo.she flew timair again for$200.00 and the hedo people wre very nice giving linda a hug and a letter good for our 6 days that we didnt use.the only shitty part was that it said that we could not use it on any holiday and we had 1 year to use it.(remember we paid for new years)another cab ride for $25.00 from the airport to the hospital and that afternoon linda frantically tried to find a room in mobay,and finally the wyndham let her stay for $80.00 there was another couple that was at the hospital that stayed at the grand lido negril and the lady was very kind to linda giving her some snacks and a friendly word,and even offering her to stay in her room while her boyfriend spent his last night in the hospital(high blood pressure)the next day was new years eve and we tried like hell to get a flight home but the doctor said i cound not fly until the next day.we called verywhere in mobay for a room and finally found a room in breezes mobay.breezes in mobay has a great beach that is publis but has some killer shade by way of some palm trees.we got to the hotel from another cab ride$30.00 and breezes i guess gave us a deal for$200.00

our room at breezes was as big as a closet and there were COCKROACHES IN THERE! it was gross and dirty and if you can ever avoid staying there,DON'T! i was in so much pain i could barely move but i wanted to kill the pain with some ganj as linda gave away our hedo ganj to some friends at hedo.i struggled to the beach where a young fellow asked if i was o.k. i said that i needed some ganj but just enough to get me through the night as we found some plane tickets for new years day on norhtworst.....he said 80 bucks i said i only wanted 20 worth.we then barted all the way down to $25 and boy that was the best 25 i ever spent for ganj. it was huge! i ended up leaving a hooter the size of a good cuban for the maid (or the cockroaches) we had a decent dinner,being that it was new years they put a spread out by the pool complete with lobster tail which i had for the first time in my life....AWEWSOME the next morning we got up had breakfast at jimmys buffet and the food was awful,just awful.............we then caught the bus to the airport and then got our $800.00 tickets to fly home.NORTHWEST ID VERY LITTLE TO HELP ME SITUATION.they wouldnt give me an emergency row seat to help my pain.we flew to memphis,went through customs and then to our connecting flight to dtw.customs was all over this one guy who thought he could bring back some island with him,poor fool!northwest did have a wheelchair fo me once i walked in extreme pain all the way down the jetway.
