This was our third trip to Hedo II after going to Hedo III in January. We didnt have as much fun at Hedo III so we were really looking forward to going back to II. What we discovered is that it really doesnt matter which resort you go to, its the people that make the trip. Here is a brief report on what started out to be the worst vacation of our life.
We arrived on Friday night after a missed connection, which was no big deal, we were just happy to be back at Hedo. We arrived to find a few small improvements to the dining hall, mainly the fixed leaky roof. It was also lobster night the food was excellent that night. The food seemed to go downhill as the week went by. The wait staff was much better than our previous trip though. We were given a room on the prude side no problem, we needed the exercise anyway! They have new bedspreads and lamps but otherwise the rooms were the same except for the large amount of marching ants. The disco was filled with locals every night (more so than our past 2 trips) and they played mostly Jamaican music that was difficult to dance to. It was a real disappointment from our last trips. The bar service was excellent though!
We met some very nice people our first 2 days. Unfortunately, they were leaving the next day. Thats when our trip took a terrible downturn. A group called the Fluffernutters (hereafter referred to as FNs) started filtering in. We knew they would be there, but didnt know anything about them. We had gone when other groups had been there and always had a good time.
In the next few days, the FNs proceeded to take over the entire nude pool area with rude comments, raunchy orgies, oral sex, major pot smoking in the middle of everyone and everything else that you could only imagine. We have seen some of this activity at hedo before, but never to this scale and never with people that couldnt take no for an answer. Every direction you looked just about everyone in the group was doing everything they could to scare people away. We couldnt decide which was worse, their personalities or their looks. Most normal people that werent members of the group stayed away from the nude pool while they were around because if you were anywhere near them, they would be grabbing you or spreading marshmallow cream on you and attempting to lick it off. Most of them had no respect for anyone they felt if you were around them, then you were fair game. Some of them even followed people to the beach area and harassed them. They were so offensive at their welcome party in the disco that the entertainment staff left the disco. With exception of a couple members, most people in this group were friendly only to those in their group. If they did talk to you, the conversation consisted of:
It was like a bunch of Vinnies and Vinnettes got together and formed a group so they could be rude and obnoxious to everyone that was at the resort. One day, they had a lobster lunch for all their members at the nude grill. Of course this meant that nobody else could eat there because the FNs would all block up the grill for about 4 hours. Everyone else was forced to eat at the dining hall or the prude grill.
We ate at the Japanese restaurant one night and got the privilege to sit at a table with 3 other couples or course, one couple was members of the FNs. We were all having a nice conversation when a younger couple left the table to smoke. We were really impressed that the young couple was that polite (obviously they werent part of the FN group). Well, the FN couple decided that they wanted to smoke also, but didnt want to leave the table in order to do it, so without asking anyone else, they lit up, then went over, grabbed the young couple and had them come back and smoke at the table That was the final straw. By Wed. we ended up spending a lot of time in our room or on the prude side. We even tried to switch to Hedo III or Grand Lido for our last 4 days but they were both full. We were ready to cut our vacation short and just go back home when we took one last trip to the nude grill to say goodbye to Robert when we noticed the FNs all down by the beach and the rest of the guests back by the pool area. We walked up to the pool area to find that some of the WWW group had started to arrive. We were always afraid to book with this group because they sounded too wild for our tastes, but once we started meeting people from WWW it turned our hedo trip completely around. As more people came in, the tone of the resort totally changed. Everyone was friendly, talkative and very respectful. You could walk around the resort and people would actually smile and greet you. Soon the WWW group took over the pool and beach area and it was back to the hedo that we knew from our previous trips. Over the next 3 days, we didnt see many FNs around and those that were there were quiet and kept to themselves. On Friday the most obnoxious member of the FNs (we called him king Vinney) was getting married on the nude beach but instead of being naked or partially naked, the entire group was fully clothed. They made everyone be quiet and leave the area around them so there would be no naked people in the videos and photos. Meanwhile other clothed people are being asked to either strip or leave by security as they walked into the nude area. We had never seen anything like this in our previous trips. Apparently, there were many people complaining about this group, in fact, I think there were more people on the prude side than on the nude side for the first part of the week.
The final three days, we met some really great people and really had a lot of fun. Meeting DennyP and the all the nice people in the Wet, Wild and Wicked group made the entire trip worthwhile.
I think for our next trip, we will head back to Hedo III. The rooms are much nicer, the disco plays better music, the pool and hot tub is much cleaner and the people are closer to our age.
P.S. We saw that somebody (????) defaced the Fluffernutter banner the end of the week. It was a really fitting farewell to the group!
