TRIP REPORT HEDO II

APRIL 21 28, 2003

JIM AND LINE

Now that we have been back for almost 3 weeks, it is about time we complete our report on our 5th trip.  Getting back to home this time was completely different that any of our previous 4 trips.  This year there was a direct flight from Halifax to MoBay rather than the flight to Toronto, wait for 5 hours and then leave for MoBay.  What a relief taking the direct flight.  After what seemed like a very quick 4 hours, immigration and customs was a breeze.  Again a change this year we decided to try out the bus ride instead of the TimAir adventure of other years.  The trip took 1 hr and 15 mins including a much welcome stop for Red Stripe road was very good and the driver was great at explaining the area and what is what as we were driving.  Only thing that never changed was the way they drive amazing.  Check in was very quick after a great welcome from dezoobares from last year and their welcome drink.  Stayed again on the prude side but was upgraded to Ocean View Prude.

HIGHLIGHTS

1.       Would have to be the wedding of our two dear friends.  We had the pleasure of standing up with them.

2.       Meeting again our friends from de zoo bares from last year and our new friends from the net of bare naked ladies and their boy toys.

3.       Seven days and nights without one drop of rain constant sun and blue skies, you gotta love it.

4.       Constant water pressure and temp in the showers no problems here at all

5.       Well working A/C we left it on 24/7 with out the Lysol trick and no crud or other ill effects at all.

6.       Still amazed at the number and variety of toys brought over from the UK by the Toy Boy who said customs is not blind.

7.       The great California wine supplied by our dear friends (26 bottles in carry on coming in to Ja???)

8.       Meals, as usual, were great in the dining room (breakfast and lunch), Japanese restaurant and Pastafari.  No complaints here at all.

9.       Two great meals at Grand Lido great food, beautiful place but boy oh boy do the guests need some lessons in how to smile.

10.   Meeting the new GM appears to be a people person with an obvious goal in trying to bring Hedo II back to top standard.  Was seen each day walking the resort and talking to the guests.  Eating meals in the dining room and sitting with the guests is a classy move on his part.  We wish him luck.

11.   Attitude of all the staff seems to be much improved over last year the young girls in the dining room were fantastic, great personalities with their innocent smile and courteous.

LOWLIGHTS

  1. Saying good byes to all our friends until another year very sad.

  2. Climbing aboard the bus and us leaving for our journey back.

  3. The sad death on Sunday of the gentleman from New York very quickly brings people back to earth from the fantasy world of Hedo.

As you can see we had very little to complain about in fact, we probably said it in each of our past 4 trip reports this has to be our best trip home yet.  The biggest highlight of the trip for me (Jim) would have to be the quality time spent with Line we take the opportunity to get to know each other again sad what real life does to a couple isnt it?  We should mention that the last couple of days there, they were changing the bed spreads and drapes in the prude side rooms quite nice actually makes the rooms look much brighter.  Yes the rooms need some work done on them but for the amount of time spent in the rooms, maybe they should concentrate on doing some work on the nude pool area (washrooms).  Now we are almost getting ready to enter the countdown for our next trip at the same time next year but maybe, just maybe in December.
