Jim & Line May 12 12, 2001
Its now been two days since we arrived home and things
are still not as clear as they were the day I left so I thought I would sit
down now while some of the days can be remembered separately and not in one
big blob.
Leaving from Eastern Canada and making good connections
without a overnight is not totally possible so after a stay in Toronto we
finally hit the air on Sat heading non stop to MoBay. Enroute we already met new friends H & S from Nova
Scotia and the newlyweds to be from Calgary.
We often wondered about people we talk to at airports if they would
be a fit at Hedo or are they going to another resort. The newlyweds turned out to be a perfect fit and hopefully
our paths will cross again. Rest
of trip was routine: arrive MoBay, scoot through the long lineups at customs,
trying to catch up to our luggage as it worked its way to the Super Clubs desk
and then off to Tim Air. As
planned, we met up with friends from last years Grin and Bare It group and the
fun began as we entered the receptions area.
A true reunion, meeting all our family from last year with hugs,
kisses, teasing and tears. Home
at last!!!!!!
We wont bore you with details of the constant fun and
companionship we missed from this group for the past year except to say what a
wonderful feeling to meet face to face the people you care for so much.
After reading several of the threads over the months prior to us
leaving, we thought we would cover a few of the things discussed.
FOOD Yes the food varies from good to very good (in
our opinion). Lots of veggies,
fresh fruits, breads and choices. No
one should go hungry unless they are extremely picky. Morning breaky is great with Charlie still cooking the best
omlettes anywhere. Waiting staff
were quick to refill juices, coffee and water.
ROOMS - Still
very clean, bright and yes the air conditioner although with the constant
humming is easy to get used to and actually works well (in 2210 anyway).
Staff went above and beyond even cleaning our beach shoes from the
sand and folding clothes left out.
BEACH Every morning the area where the GABI group
parked itself had fresh towels laid out, grounds was neatly cleared and chairs
lined up perfectly. Many thanks
to Augustus for all his dedication and hard work he made us slugs very
tired just watching him. The beach staff even hung our smiley flag the first
morning.
BAR Delroy was his usual jovial self, Devon is
becoming very popular with the ladies (especially one Canadian lady).
No problem getting drinks although the ladies seemed to be waited on
first but then I would wait on them first too.
GRILL ahhhhh Roberts.
Home of the best Jerk Chicken/Fish, grilled ham and cheese and fries
anywhere. Great service, good
food what else could you want.
ENTERTAINMENT not bad some good nights, some bad
nights but then every night cant fit into everyones tastes.
VERONICAS our first time there after three visits
and yes it was fun even the showing of the Canadian flag tattoo in its
well placed position on the body by a certain Canadian lady (Line).
Dave was a blast will go back again and again for sure.
PDAs Yes there were lots in the pool and hot tub
but then why not its Hedo. No
evidence of Sex Police at all day or night.
Those who did not care to see or take part had the choice.
WATER No problem in room 2210 with changing water
temps in the shower
STAFF The entertainment co-ordinators were not nearly
as friendly as they were in past trips except for a couple who went out of
their way to talk but with time all will fit in quite nicely.
Scumba seems to have developed an attitude the couple of days he was
there maybe just bad hair days.
DISCO/PJ NIGHT Hot, crowded and very loud.
Only stayed 15 mins and then hit the beach.
Could move (?) to dining area for more space.
Overall we thought this trip was better than our previous two. Only took a couple of days to become thoroughly attached to the beach slug position. This was the first reunion of the Grin and Bare it Group and hopefully there will be more to come. Our hearts are with each and every member of the group who we met again this year and to the new couple who came along for our first reunion. One big happy family who shed a few tears as we all hugged on our last day. The memories from this trip should carry us to next May the Cat Cruise, the infamous Wednesday Pool Night where being close friends took on a whole new meaning, Bob Marleys (for those who wish to remember), our water sling shot, volley ball games and many more. To our old and new friends we luv ya all and our thoughts will be with you over the next year. Thank you all for a wonderful vacation. See ya next year, eh???
