HEDO VIRGINS NO MORE!!!!!!!! First, a number of "thank you's" is in order but like the Oscars, we'll try to keep them short. To Ron & Catherine - our heart felt thank you for introducing us to Hedo II, without you we never would have discovered our new home; to Denny's message board - without it we would not have been prepared to enjoy it as much as we did; to all on the chat line who answered our questions; people like Hedohenry & hedofrog who offered encouragement; to those with us at Hedo from the email ring - great meeting you and we do hope our paths cross again; to Hedoman - thank you for your guidance and hints while at Heod; finally to the Vegas couple - thank you deeply for the matinae performances on the raft - our hats are tipped to you with applause but the next time we meet, we'll be ready for a return match in the hot tub - we are going to practice and be up to the challenge. Now the trip but I understand Beach Slugs have very poor memories but here goes anyway:
Day 1
Left Saint John at 6:45 to Toronto and a five hour wait for the flight to MoBay.
Our friend Huricane Floyd caused us to a westerly flight path and arrived at
MoBay 3/4 hour later than expected - no problem, still lots of time to take
TimAir - NOT. Raining when we arrived but had to wait 1/2 hour to get off the
plane. Seems that the customs people did not have raincoats and wasn't too keen
in getting wet so there we sat. Once we did get off, it was waiting time for
luggage - yep still raining and no one wanted to get wet - 3/4 hour wait - but
no problem, TimAir wasn't flying anyway due to storms. The dreaded bus was the
last option. We now understand the ter "bus ride from hell". A number
of close calls, horn honking, cows, goats, people and donkeys made for an
exciting ride that we'll remember for a long time. Check in went quicker than we
thought it would and got the room we asked for. We then decided to "bare
it" for the first time and look cool and walk down to the beach - wherever
that was. Put the towels over our shoulders, donned a cap and off we went. Found
the hot tub and pool and were really proud that as newbies we were doing quite
well. All this changed rather quickly, when we standing on the steps at Delroys,
I casually asked Anna (?) where the beach was. She looked at me rather strangly
and said - "One more step Mon and you are there". Embarassed? Yep and
the whole world now knows we are newbies. So much for being cool. Again to show
we were newbies, Line struck up a conversation at the grill with a young fellow
who as she said "was friendly", we were to find out later that he was
well known as a :"vinnie". We each had a turn at proving we were
Virgins. To all it was becoming obvious we were first timers.
Day 2
Overcast with showers but it gave us a chance to look around to locate things,
and do the touristy souvenir buying tricks. One lesson learned from our first
day - do not let Newbies out at night alone - strange things could happen to
them.
Day 3 - 7
We will group these five days together since one day seemed like another with
very little variation. Breakfast - beach - Delroys - pool - Delroys - supper and
back to square one again.
Highlights of the five days
Fellow vacationers - Love you all & hope we do meet up again. Its the people
of Hedo that are one of the ingredients that make the place special.
Cat Cruise Excellent trip and Line - once she came around after Steave's massage
enjoyed the rest of the trip even though her eyes were slightly glazed over and
she kept saying "my god" and "that Steave"
Ricks Cafe
No sunset but great light show from a distant lightening storm.
Hot Tub The impromptu contest with Vegas, us and 2 other couples (see no names)
mde for a lot of fun not only for us but those that enjoyed the late afternoon
matinee performance. Line and I will practice and be ready the next time for the
winners.
Hot Tub 2 Again proving that newbies must be watched and helped. Cool Jim
decided to head for the hot tub. With Cigarette in hand he stepped down,(not
enough), missed the step and ended up kissing the bottom of the hot tub. Only
injury was his pride and his broken cigarette but we all had a good laugh and
another fond memory.
Low lights: Departure day - Line had tears and I feld very sad about leaving.
Tried to get the Zoo Crew to adopt us and keep us there but although they were
willing we were unable to stay. Just to punish us for enjoying ourselves too
much - we took the bus.
Honorable Mention
PJ & Toga night - fun, intesting outfits and entertaining to say the least.
A must go to for everyone.
Staff beautiful people - love their attitude. Shaka, Teddy, Charlie, Cleopatra
and all the others love you all. Very courteous and full of life.
Food: Very good to good. Good selection, lots to eat - no complaints from this
end at all.
Drinks - we discovered some new drinks that we will be using back home - great
service.
Yes we did have the best vacation ever - for the ones thinking of going go , its
worth it. If you have any questions, please email us anytime and we'll try and
help like all others helped us.
One more thing, we will be returning "home" on May 4, 2000 to
celebrate Line's birthday on May 5 - join us if you can.
