Mike & Karen 12/99 - Wet, Wild, and Wicked

Well, it all started back in May when I (Karen) decided that we needed a vacation!  We hadn’t been anywhere since our honeymoon four years ago, and 2 kids later we definitely needed to relax.  I checked all over the internet, and was about to book a cruise when I found Denny’s site.  I read all the trip reports and kept up with the message boards for a few weeks.  We had been to Mardi Gras before, so nudity was not completely new to us, but we had never done anything more than “flash” for beads.  I brought home all the information and let Mike pick between Hedo and the cruise.  (And which one do you think any 24 year old male would pick?!)  So we booked our trip, signed up on Denny’s site and waited, and waited, and waited for December to finally come around.

A week or so after we booked, Larry Wright emailed us.  We soon started contacting each other almost daily by email.  All of us were Hedo virgins and it was so much fun to speculate about what our trips would be like.  After telling his co-workers about our trip, Mike soon convinced Charlie and Jenny to join us in our adventure.  So we planned and waited, and finally it was time to go.  The night before we left, Charlie and Jenny stayed over since we live an hour closer to the airport than they do.  We chatted with Larry and Wendy, and also Boomer and Steph.  This was the first time that we had talked with them, and found out that Boomer grew up not far from where we live.

Finally, it was Saturday, December 11, and it was time to go!  We will skip all the info on the flight down, because no one cares about that anyway.  We did have an hour layover in Charlotte, and Larry and Wendy live 30 minutes from the airport there, so they drove to the airport just to meet us!  We spent our hour layover talking to them and laughing about how next time we would see them, (they didn’t arrive at Hedo until Tuesday) we would all be naked.

At last, we arrived in Montego Bay.  We took the Tim Air flight to Negril, hopped on a bus and in 5 minutes we were standing in the main lobby.  We checked in, headed to the bar, and in 20 minutes were shown to our room.  I started unpacking to prolong the trip to the nude beach.  I knew I would get naked, but I just wasn’t ready yet.  After an hour of procrastinating, we went over to Charlie and Jenny’s room.  Jenny wasn’t ready to take off her clothes either, so we walked over to the prude side and checked out their beach.  It was empty and didn’t look like much fun, so we walked a little closer to the nude beach.  A big group was playing volleyball, so we walked over behind the first block of rooms.  Mike and Charlie really wanted to check out the pool and the hot tub, and we needed new drinks, but Jenny and I wouldn’t take our clothes off.  After about 15 minutes of “Why did I come here?  What were we thinking, and I can’t do this”, I finally looked at Mike and said, “You know, we saved for a year to go on this trip, and we aren’t going to have any fun if I worry about this all week”.  So I started walking towards the beach, stripping as I walked.  Charlie and Mike started laughing, disrobed and followed me.  I don’t think Jenny was ready, but we were abandoning her, so she took off her top and followed.  We got to the pool and the hot tub, and I was pretty embarrassed  (it was full of people and everyone was looking at us.  I assume now this is because we were new, but I was pretty embarrassed at the time) so we decided to get in.  It was really crowded, but Mike and I managed to find a spot.  Jenny had never taken off her shorts, and the hot tub crowd started chanting “Take it off!  Take it off!  Take it off!”  She was, of course, mortified, but got naked and got in.  This was the last time we ever gave a thought to being naked!

We went to dinner, met Ken and Karen and at 9:00 went to bed.  We had been up since 3:00am, and were exhausted.  We said we would take a nap, get up at 11:00 and go back out, but it never happened.  Sunday we had breakfast and then spent the day drinking and laying at the pool.  We floated on our rafts in the ocean for a while, too.  We met Joe and Lisa, Stacie and Tony and Carol and Rob.  We also met Boomer and Steph after they arrived.  As everyone headed to the hot tub around sunset, Carol and Rob started a game of dirty dice.  We joined in and met JJ and Debra.  We ate at Pastafari, and we don’t remember what we did that night after dinner. (too much cheap champagne at Pastafari, no doubt)

Monday was spent drinking, parasailing, and lounging at the pool.  We took some great pictures in the waterfall and over the fountain with Debra, Jenny and Carol.

Tuesday was spent drinking, going to town to shop, and lounging at the pool.  We ate at Pastafari again with Charlie and Jenny, Larry and Wendy, Tony and Stacy and Leonard and Wendi.  We got dressed for PJ night in our devil and angel costumes, and headed to the disco.  We did win 2nd place for the Funky Category, but beyond that didn’t think the party was all that great.  As soon as the judging was over, we headed to the hot tub, where there were about 12 vinnies evenly spaced throughout it.  We stayed there about 15 minutes, but one guy creeped me out too much so we called it a night.

Wednesday was spent drinking (notice the pattern we are establishing here), lounging by the pool, and the catamaran cruise.  I nearly died falling down the rope swing (if anyone has pictures of this, please burn them) and Mike cut his hand up pretty bad on some coral.  We also witnessed Charlie and Jenny’s wedding vows renewal.  That evening we went to Xtabi for dinner with JJ and Debra, Charlie and Jenny and Tony and Stacie.  The food, view and service were all excellent, and we definitely plan to go back there on our next trip.  After dinner we all met up with Larry and Wendy and Leonard and Wendi, and hung out in Charlie and Jenny’s room playing games until about 1:00am, then we headed to the hot tub before crashing.

Thursday was spent drinking (again), lounging by the pool and witnessing George and Danise’s wedding. We also renewed our wedding vows on Thursday.  We had a large crowd of new friends to share this with, and many thanks to Denny and Diane for taking some great pictures.  After the “reception” we went over to the nude beach and pool to take some pictures, sat in the hot tub for a while, and then went back to our rooms to fight with our togas.  The toga party was uneventful, but we did win 1st place for best couple, which amazed us, since we spent about 2 minutes getting dressed.  Mike did wear the twin sheet, but I safety pinned some pillowcases together and tied them on.  We went back to our room for a while and then headed to the hot tub.

Friday was our last full day, so we spent it doing absolutely nothing (except drinking!) at the pool.  We did participate in the Funny Tshirt contest, where I won $100,000 Hedo Bucks for putting on clothes at the nude pool (?!?!?!?!).  We went to Pastafari one last time, and stayed up late at the hot tub.

Saturday morning we got up early, finished packing, and went to breakfast.  We all (Karen, Mike, Charlie and Jenny) took a 9:30am flight back to Montego Bay, where we stayed until Sunday afternoon.  We made it up to Dunn’s River Falls, Rose Hall and had too many shots at Margaritaville.  We all went down the 3 story waterslide and swam over to the trampolines, where we promptly took off our swimsuits and jumped around like idiots, much to the amusement of the other guests. (so much for Jenny and me being embarrassed!) All I remember is looking towards the restaurant and seeing all the flashes from the cameras.  Hopefully, those pictures will not resurface if I run for President someday. J

We flew home on Sunday afternoon, and had a pretty uneventful trip back, with the exception of Mike’s EMPTY Coke bottle being confiscated by customs, and having items stolen out of our luggage.   Our first trip was very memorable, and we can’t say enough good things about the resort, the staff, and all the great people we met there.  We are already planning for next year!  (which is good, since as of Jan. 3 we are still not even unpacked!  Maybe we’ll just leave it all packed for next year.)  Thank you so much to Denny, as we never would have made it to Hedo without his website.  Also, thanks to Larry and Wendy, Charlie and Jenny, JJ and Debra, Boomer and Steph, and Tony and Stacie for making our trip so much more fun!  We can’t imagine meeting better people to party with.  We had such a great time…we know this because we can’t even remember when some things happened.  I know I played Twister because I have the pictures, but when did that happen?  And what was that inflatable doll doing in our room?  And how did Mike get that swing anchored into the ceiling?  And when did Mike climb up that palm tree…naked?  And how did I wake up one morning with Mike’s underwear on…backwards?  (Okay, maybe THAT one didn’t happen. I’ll never tell.)
