Joe - 12/99: Wet, Wild, and Wicked

How I spent my winter break: It is Jan 2 and I haven't been to work for a month and am still on Jamaican time. So, here goes what I learned from 18 days of sun and sand at Hedo.

The flight was uneventful sans the comet outside of Atlanta, I love Air Jamaica and wish they would non-stop out of DIA

The Bus ride there sucked and took over two hours! But the bus ride back was only a little over an hour and somewhat enjoyable due to the driver pointing out landmarks and telling stories (gotta love the Jamaicans).

The rooms were the same except for the air conditioner, which turns the room into a meat locker on any setting, but nice when it is hot out. This year we opted for Garden nude and didn't mind a bit, the water pressure and temp was never an issue and the hassle of clothes was only minor and the convenience of the dining room was nice.

The people, well the people are what keeps us wanting to go back every year, and this time was no exception. Everyone was warm and friendly and more than willing to have a good time. We always hope for a young crowd and never get it, but it never ever matters! Bob and Fran the first week were the best and a blast to be around, besides being the nicest people (Fran was nicknamed mother Hedo), and Kenny and Ginger were great also. Quinton the man who changed my idea of the single guy at Hedo was a wonderful person and great to hang out with, Iggy who was so so nice, and Neil were both singles who were great, remember not all single guys are vinnies. Neil by the way kept us going when we wanted to quit and made the last days a blast always laughing, and intoxicated! Maybe it was throwing the Sizzler in the pool? Tony and Princess Caroline were great, Tony is the best, he kept us laughing the whole time. Jim and Jodi were great and once Tony left Jim filled in making as laugh our asses off ( betya didn't know Hedo has alarm clocks, just ask Jim because I am too embarrassed to explain). Denny and Kenny deserve a free week once in awhile for all they do for us with their sites, hats off to you! And to all the others to numerous to mention a very well deserved thank you for making our vacation great! I felt guilty for not spending more time with everyone.

The staff is unbelievable and made a lasting impression this time. 18 days gives you enough time to get to know them and everyone should try to talk with them every chance they get. The entertainment coordinators do allot more than you'd think and are great at what they do. The sizzler was the best, he made the vacation great. Robert was the greatest, he made Roberts Famous Cornhusker Sandwich just for me everyday, and I loved it. Jamaicans have a wonderful culture, everyone should treat the staff the way they treat the other guests. I am still amazed at their happiness and attitude. Respect to all of them. And boy can they dance!

The Resort is starting to show age and all but still a nice place, the gardens are kept up wonderfully. The food was good until about the 12th day when everything started to get repetitive (Except Robert's), Pastafaris was also good (some more fries foods would be nice). The entertainment, for us Nebraskans is great, Guests should cheer allot more than they do. The activities were fun although a little slow to get going. I missed the Sexual positions part of battle of the sexes. If anyone has a pic of me dressed up like a woman please send it. All and all the place is still worth returning to. Oh Yeah #%@! the art auction and I think the sand gravity is increasing.

Various notes for Hedo goers. First don't steal my rafts, it pisses me off beyond words, nuff said. Second, don't stereotype people, us young folk are fun to, just as we learned the older crowd is. And on that note not all single guys are vinnies, give everyone a chance, but vinnies are there. If you are a vinnie, please remember, your just as ugly in Jamaica as at home (especially nekkid), and the girls standards don't drop. There are also female vinnies and these girls just drive me plum nuts! Just because there are 20 single guys vying for your attention and I say hi, it doesn't make me on of them, and you can leave your attitude at home or stay there. Third I don't know how many times I said "only at Hedo does this %$@#! happen!" which is great. Hedo is a place to really be yourself, so do it, you only live once! If you don't agree with someone's choices, at least respect it, they still might be great people, regardless of what they like to do. I met some nice prudes this trip, no really, I did. Most people aren't that crazy at home, so remember that and don't judge, I get judged enough at home. Fourth, smile, be happy, say HI to everyone you see, get real drunk at least once, run around naked, after all YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE!

May Every Day be Irie Mon! Joe
