Jim & Nissa - 12/99: Wet, Wild, and Wicked

Hedonism II trip from December 9th through the 16th.

This was our first trip to Hedo and we were very pleased.  Our venture getting to the hotel was not very pleasant, though.  We left our house at 4:30 am to catch a flight out of Minneapolis airport at 7:00 am.  We took a limo to the airport and paid a very well deserved $40.00.  Jim had never flown before and therefore went we registered we were very disappointed to find out we had seats over the wing, we quickly changed our seats.  We found that all of our tickets were seated over the wing.  The flight was uneventful.

We arrived at Mobay airport at 2:20 P.M.  Now mind you we booked straight through superclubs in the hopes we would have less hassle.  We also called one week before we left and confirmed our flight and reservations at the hotel (oceanview/nude with king bed).  We were horribly mistaken.  When we went to check in at the bus they did not have our reservations, we proved it with our voucher.  We took the bus from hell and we will never do this again.  Jim and I were both exhausted riding with only four hours of sleep.  Arrived at the hotel at 5:30 P.M.  and again we were told that they did not have our reservations.  They tried to be “nice” and put us up in a different hotel.  We did not accept and received a room in prude/garden view.  Told a king bed would be put in, but after a short walk we returned to two twin beds pushed together.  Never being at hedo, I wanted to go home already, if there was a way I would have found it.  This thought soon passed within the first two hours being in the environment of Hedo, it is the people that make Hedo, not the material environment.  Three days later we received our oceanview/nude room with a “real” king bed, yeah!!!

We did not take long to loose our clothes on the first day.  We quickly got acquainted with the hot tub and Roberts French fries, Yum.  The ketchup is something to be desired and Jim laughs at me when I tell him I will be bringing my own ketchup down for our next trip.  Oh will those fries be extremely good then.  On the 9th, we went to bed early and missed the toga party.  Friday we had a “find the little buddy” contest were I took picture of  gentleman’s buddy’s and than later people needed to match up the buddy with the guy and the winner received a hat.  This was very interesting because Guys are a little more held back when it comes to joining in on contests involving their buddy’s, imagine at Hedo!!!

We planned on getting a lot of activity into our trip since we are pretty much home bound at home, with the snow, three small children and two dogs.  We ended up spending most of our days on the beach and floating on a floatation mat.  We went on a water jet for a half an hour and this was fun.  We tried the kayaks and we quickly made the conclusion that we were not on vacation to work out, and we definitely received a workout on the kayak and quickly turned around.  We went on two catamaran cruises and we surprised to receive a free catamaran voucher from Kenny and Ginger who won the voucher on the toga night.  Thank you, this saved us $40.00.  We loved the catamaran and will definitely go on these again on our next trip.  We went on Denny’ cruise on Wed. and we lucky to be on the front of the boat to see the dolphins swimming and jumping in the front of the boat, they were within a few feet from us.  Great picture.  (O.k. now my memory is slipping a little and Jim just told me that the dolphins may have been on the first catamaran cruise,  details, details).  The jello shots on Denny’s cruise was well worth the trouble that the people that brought them got into, he,he. We attempted the rope swing and chickened out on the cliff diving, we were not alone.  The waterslide at the Pickled Parrot was not working on our first trip out.  We went on the rope swing and the first swings were uneventful and exhilarating.  The second swing was very painful for me.  My feet refused to let go of the rope and I ended up doing a FULL bellyflop into the water and needless to say I think I even learned some new words I didn’t think I knew.

It is now about three weeks after our trip and I am on the way to the Chiropractor.

Our nightlife was very exciting.  We enjoyed the night at Veronica’s were Jim, I (nissa), Bernie, Elaine, Brian, and Kellie were enjoying ourselves.  The ladies flashed the crowd and than following was the guys mooning the crowd.  There was another guy involved we joined in on the fun, sorry we did not get your name.  Following Veronica’s was the excitement at the hot tub.  Diane allowed the opportunity to “test try” the waterproof vibrator and hand massager for the enjoyment of the guys.  I joined the wet T-shirt contest and was disappointed that it was turned from an event that I felt was “unprofessional” to one where half the ladies almost backed out when the hired professional dancer took the floor.  P.J. night was very fun and gave me a chance to really loosen up.  Having a little to drink I think the Vinnie’s thought that it was now there chance.  Whenever Jim left my side to go get a drink a vinnie would come up and ask to dance.  I may have agreed to a dance had not these Vinnie’s been dressed in there white underwear (briefs).  By the way our camera was not working well this night and if anyone got a picture of the female in the Presidential intern outfit (me) up on stage dancing, please let me know and I would greatly appreciate a copy.

Enough of our babbling, in the end we concluded we had the time of our lives and we are planning on returning in July 2000.  A couple of pointers for first timers, as we were.  1.When getting in contact with others through e-mail before the trip, keep in mind that e-mail contact can be very deceiving.  We meet a lot of people before hand through e-mail and we are happy we kept our minds open.  Bob was a single guy we stayed during our trip and we did not get a good vibe from him through our computer contact, yet we found him to be a very respectful and descent individual who is not classified in the “vinnie” category. 2. Do not booked through the hotel (superclubs).  3. There is a $200.00 deposit required to make phone calls (even collect), this is not mentioned in Chris’s book.  To get away from this you can pay $3 (connection fee/ per call) at the front desk and make your collect call from there.4.  You are not there for the hotel, but the people.  5.  Last, but most important, let go of all your inhibitions and have fun!!!

To the people that made our trip enjoyable:  Bernie and Elaine; Denny and Diane; Kenny and Ginger; Brian and Kellie; Boomer and Stephanie; Don and Vicki; Bob; Steve and Char; Bob and Hilda; Dan; Rupe and Pat; David and Joyce; and JJ and Debra------We say thank you for being a part of our vacation and we really enjoyed your company.  To any one we have mistakenly forgot to mention—thank you.  And of course to Lewis---see you in July :~)
