Jim & Loni - December 2017 Wet, Wild, and Wicked ®

Trip Report-WWW December 2-9, 2017

This was our 10th trip to Hedo and first with the WWW group.  We have used DennyP for booking previously over the years and always found his service to be exceptional.  Back in February 2016, we met a bunch of really cool folks-(it’s Hedo, it happens!) and in talking with them, we found out that they were mostly all winter WWW folks and just happened to all be on a February Fluff trip to see what the hype was all about.  We’ve been on a couple of Fluff trips and they are tons of fun, no doubt!  We really connected with a bunch of our new friends and decided we would go on one of Denny’s group trips and we are really glad we did!

Jet Blue took us to Mobay nonstop from snowy New England without any trouble.  We booked Club Mobay, as we always do and this time it really saved us some time on arrival.  I always feel somewhat guilty getting escorted past everyone standing in line, but guilt passes quickly!  Rocky’s met us just outside the airport and our driver arrived very quickly with a couple of cold Red Stripes.  We have used Rocky’s since they stopped the SuperClubs bus several years back and highly recommend them.

Check in went smoothly, although the sheet that Denny sent us to fill out beforehand was not the sheet that they wanted at the front desk.  It was not a problem at all, since as soon as I get out of the taxi and am greeted with a “Welcome home” I truly begin to relax and do not get bothered by silly minutia.

We booked and received an OVNP room, which is one of the second floor rooms with a covered balcony, in the nude beach complex.  The room was fully remodeled and beautiful.  The balcony is about 10 x 10 feet and it has two barrel chairs, a small table and a 5-foot round ottoman/chair thing that has a soft cushion and is about 10 inches off the floor.  What the heck is that thing supposed to be for (lol)?    The balcony also had a power receptacle outside and was a nice quiet place to hang out with a cocktail before going to bed or have coffee in the morning.  My darling wife Loni, who has to check in daily with her work really enjoyed the balcony as a cool place to do what she needed to do without being on the beach with a laptop or tablet, making other guests uncomfortable.

I really enjoy getting up early and enjoying a cup or two of coffee on the beach.  At about 7:00 in the morning, they bring down a big coffee urn and some little sweet pastries, breads and fruit.  The mornings are beautiful on the beach and I really enjoy chatting with some of the other early risers.

A typical day was spent lounging on nude beach until about noon, under the Zoo Crew tree.  I think the branch where the name was carved may be gone, but the repeat offenders know the big tree in front of the nude bar by that name.  About noon, I would make my way to the nude pool.  Instantly, all our new friends would be asking where Loni was.  She liked to stay on the beach until a bit later in the afternoon, which is fine, as it’s her vacation too.  The company we were hanging out with had no trouble inviting us into the WWW group and we got into great conversations and had lots of fun with people we had just met.  Many in the group have been going every year together for many years, but we were welcomed instantly by the WWW family and can see why these folks keep going at the same time every year.  When the sun started setting we all would talk about going to the hot tub, but it always took several more rounds of drinks to get everyone on the same drink-refill schedule.  You just can’t travel with half a cocktail, you know!

The food at Hedo is good, usually really good.  The omelets at breakfast are prepared nicely and there is a wonderful set up of fruits, breads, meats, bacon, smoked salmon and cheeses.  The nude grill was our everyday place for lunch.  The grilled cheese with turkey and bacon are special-maybe because I was naked and having fun, but the food on the nude beach just really seems to taste better than it would anywhere else.  One afternoon it was pouring rain so I dodged the raindrops and ran up to the dining hall and absconded with two plates to take back to the room, and that food was really good also.  We ate at Pastafari three or four nights, the prude grill (Flame chophouse) once and the buffet the rest of the time.  Pastafari is out of this world awesome.  The lamb chops are incredible and every dish that either of us had was prepared perfectly, with care and love.  The staff at Pastafari is off the hook good.  Kudus to them all.

The After-dinner shows are good, but we like to hang out around the main pool deck and listen to them.  A cognac or rum cream on the rocks or two is such a nice start to the evening.  We did the piano bar a couple times and for us, it’s OK.  We would rather walk the beach hand in hand, enjoy each other’s company and maybe take a nap on a beach hammock.  The balcony came in handy for the late evening naps also.  I think I figured out what that funny, round piece of furniture is for.

On the morning of our last day, we were able to make it down to the nude pool for a bit and say our goodbyes to our new friends.  We feel like we have found our “Goldilocks” of groups with Denny’s WWW group and rebooked for December 2018 as soon as we got home.  If you are looking for a group that is welcoming, mid 40’s to late 50’s (typically-all ages were represented), fun and real (as in, honest sincere and with every body type and shape represented), then I recommend the WWW group.  We are looking forward to seeing everyone again.
