Charles & Laurel - September, 2005 Wet, Wild, and Wicked

During September 10-17 my wife and I were at Desire.  Denny Pasternak, travel agent,  had made the reservations for us.  You would be in especially good hands to work through him, I assure you. He is certainly knowledgeable and most cooperative and understanding and caring. California AAA had made our airplane reservations. My wife and I are seniors, and these comments are intended to be useful, maybe even helpful, to other seniors who might be considering attendance at Desire.

Being older (late seventies) we wondered how we would fit in with a younger crowd. We needn't have fretted.  What's more, there were a few other older couples there, and we associated with them as well as, actually, most everybody. Everything worked out very well.

Desire is maintained almost spotlessly.. Facilities, the pools and gym, the sauna and the steam room, for example, were great. Ground crews. An entertainment crew. Food was generally buffet but there was an arrangement for two times in a separate dining area where we were waited on. Beach was excellent. Weather, for us, was excellent.

We wished the music in the pool area could have been less loud and less jumpy. But then, my wife and I go back to the Glen Miller and Harry James era and maybe you do, too. During the day, folks were easy going. Whatever the age, we all seemed to be young at heart. Plenty of booze available but I saw no one drunk. Nor did I see any smoking. At night, however, far different in the Disco and the Play Room and the upstairs Jacuzzi area.
