Artie & Angel - December, 2004 Wet, Wild, and Wicked

Bad, Bad DIF

Here I sit in January at my office, in somewhat of a daze, trying to get some work done, but occasionally slipping off to the internet to see if any new trip reports or trip pictures have been posted by our dearest Denny.  Lordy, Lordy, as we say here in the South, I have a bad case of the DIF.  I just cant believe our long anticipated trip has already come and gone.  It was like a really good, good dream that you just dont want to end, but then you wake up and its over.  Denny posted that photo of the beach and it almost made me cry when I saw it.  That is MY spot and MY chair on MY beach.  (Well, its really Augustuss beach, I just share it with him and about 300 of my closest friends.)  After two trips, now I know why people call Hedo II home.  I wanna go home.  Sniff.

Maybe writing a trip report and sending it to DennyP will help my feelings somewhat.  So here goes.  Naturally, this report will have some comparisons to our first trip (July 2003 WWW - see earlier trip report below).

Good Things

Hedo II is truly a magical place.  The people are fantastic.  We like the mix of singles and couples, and meeting Jamaicans and people from everywhere.  Although we never meet as many people in our group as we would have liked to, we did spend more time bonding and becoming friends with some of those we did meet.  So if we didnt meet you, maybe we will next trip, and if we did meet you, WE MISS YOU and cant wait to see you again!

The weather was perfect.  Not nearly as hot and rainy as before.  Beautiful sunsets.

The food was way better in the dining room.  We especially enjoyed the Friday night gala.  And we continued to enjoy the treats at the beach grill. (We love ya Robert!)

We relaxed on the beach a lot more this timeor to use Lairds terminologywe became sand slugs.  Due to some stressors at home this past year, we really needed the R & R that a week at Hedo provides, as well as some quality time together.  Our first trip, I was especially in such a frenzy to do it all.  We went to the piano bar AND the hot tub almost every night.  Not so this time, but that was OK.

Pirate night was really fun and the costumes were really great!

Not So Good Things

Nothing really bad happened.

Neither of our buses from or to the airport made a stop for Red Stripe.

I think the day after we arrive (Sunday) will for every trip be the day that Steve tries to drink all of the Jack Daniels on the resort and slur over and over again Im just glad to be here.  And Mondays will be his hangover day, after which he moderates his drinking for the remainder of the week.

We took turns over-imbibing this time.  My day was Tuesday after the catamaran cruise.  I missed naughty schoolgirl night and the PJ party because I was in the room throwing up. Yall will just have to wait to see my little Auburn cheerleader outfit at the next naughty schoolgirl night.

Since it was our first winter trip, we didnt realize (even after many clues) that Jamaica does not change time and is an hour ahead of Alabama in the winter.  So for three days, we were late for almost everything that had a set time, including the catamaran cruise on Tuesday.  But it all worked out because the guys at the beach took us out to meet the catamaran at the reef.

The night catamaran cruise was not as good as before.  Russell, you are right about them needing to go out there, cut the engines, and just drift awhile.  Maybe Denny can get this remedied for future WWW trips.  On a positive note, the meteor shower was a nice touch.  Thank you God.

No bananas.  But do get yourself a bottle of the Banana Rum Cream next time if you havent already and try it.  Yum.

No Dave the Peanis.  Not that I would have done Piece by Piece for him again, but we really enjoyed Dave last time and it just wasnt the same.  Well try to go back in there more next trip and give the new guy a chance.

The music was not as good out at the pool either--I honestly was kinda looking forward to hearing Short Dick Man about five dozen times a day again and I didnt hear it once this time.  No Sean Paul or anything to schizzle your nizzle.  Whus up wid dat?

Were sorry so many of you got sick the last day.  Were also sorry that they the lobster mon at the beach is no longer there.  Maybe Hedo can figure out some way for us to keep having lobsters at the beach grill because we really like them.

I cant think of anything else negative except for the lack of even slightly warm water when we took a showerit was always cool water with brief spurts of lukewarm water.  Otherwise, our room was great.  Maybe it was just the time of day and everyone was taking their showers at the same time while getting ready for dinner.

Oh, and it was 86 F when we left MoBay on the plane Saturday and a rather nipply wind chill of 23 F in Atlanta when we landed 2.5 hours later.  Brrrrrrrrr!  So my hot shower when I got home really felt good!

What we did different this time

We spent a lot more time on the beach and a lot less time in the pool and hot tub.

We tried to meet and talk to as many people as we could that were around us, even when in our sand slug position out on the beach.

We tried more of the Jamaican foods.

We began learning some patois.

I packed half the stuff in half the luggage this time and still brought too many clothes and outfits!

Goodbyes

Thanks so much everybody for the goodbye hugs and kisses and moons and flashes on Moon Hill when we left on Saturday afternoon.

We were on the larger of the two buses, the one with the tour guide girl (who was obviously nave about the Zoo) who pointed out some things along the way that I had never noticed, told us some Jamaican history, sang Jamaican songs to us, and taught us some more Patois.  Anyway, yall just looked so damn depressed over there on the other bus when we got to that intersection in MoBay.  By the way, that was me flashing all of you, to improve morale!

As we strapped in and looked out the window at one more Jamaican sunset, we were on one of three loaded AJ planes simultaneously backing away from their gates in MoBay and taking off headed for the various U. S. cities, taking most of us back to our everyday lives.  By the time we arrived back at work Monday morning, Im sure all of us were in need of some serious reality therapy.  Or as I emailed to our fellow Alabama Hedonites, maybe the reality was at Hedo and this office Im in now is some sort of cruel joke.  I cant flash my tits in traffic here or bend over and wave at people behind me through my legs (did I really do that or was it just a dream?).  I wanna go home.  Sniff!

I love you Steve.  Thank you so much for being my husband, my soul mate, and the ultimate Hedo buddy.  You give me reason to live!

We love you Denny.
