For those of you who were hoping for updates about the latest Nike and Adidas shoes, it is my sad duty to inform you that you will be gravely disappointed in this post. Instead, this will contain a few observations based on my latest Hedo trip (12/26/17 – 1/3/18); my apologies if any of the below has already been posted elsewhere.

• Due to the installation of the new heating system Nude Side, there were a bunch of wooden boards set up behind the grassy knoll (gee, I’ve always wanted to use that phrase) behind the hot tub. The point is that it cut-off access to the shortcut to the ladies room for the gals; instead, they had to take the more circuitous “scenic route” – passing by the men’s room in order to get to where they were planning on going in the first place.
• After the activation of the heating system on 1/1/18, the boards were not immediately taken down. In fact, as of yesterday morning (1/3/18), the boards were still up
• The sinks by the men’s room were out of service; there was a note posted to use the sinks by the ladies’ room. Not sure if this was related in any way to the installation of the heating system or just a coincidence.
• On Friday (12/29/17) they did the Gala Dinner (with lobster & martini bar) and did it once again in a more elaborate way on Sunday (New Year’s Eve, 12/31/17). I mention this because I have been attending NYE’s at Hedo since 1997 and this is the first time that I can recall them doing this; in years past, they usually skip the Friday Gala and instead do a big blow-out on NYE.
• Speaking of NYE, they flipped the script a bit this year; instead of doing the party in the main dining room, they moved everything onto the courtyard outside the piano bar. The theme was the 1970’s and there was a considerable amount of work setting it all up: lighting grids were installed, there was a stage and large screen monitors that displayed a loop of psychedelic images – music was all from the 1970’s.

Post-script: I’m from NYC and apparently I made it back just in time; my Caribbean Airlines flight landed at JFK around 9:10, well ahead of the so-called Bomb Cyclone that caused many airports (including JFK) to close today. For once, I was lucky.

It would be great if you emailed this to me to post on my web site as a trip report. More people will read it there. Thanks.

Many unfamiliar faces because folks buy night passes -- this is both locals and tourists from other hotels. I'm given to understand that the night pass for NYE cost somewhere in the vicinity of $250 -- I assume that was a higher price than usual because it was NYE. If you've never been to Hedo on NYE, I highly recommend you do so. I've been attending them since 1997 and wouldn't dream of missing one. Definitely make it a bucket list item.

Now that we are in Florida, it is a little easier to just pop down for a visit. Not a huge fan of when it is crowded, nor of night pass folks in general....but I think we will make one at some point.

Big question being if Dec 31 put you into 14 booked nights in that year, could you take them Jan 1, 2, 3? 😇

I sincerely hope you do make it because it's pretty special, even if you do it only once as opposed to every year as I do.

One thing I would suggest if you are seriously considering it is to try to book as early as reasonably possible. The first time I decided to go, I tried to book in October 1997 and none of the travel agents I met with could get me booked -- until I found one who knew Kevin Levee.

Excellent question. I've never had to face that problem since I generally only get to Hedo once a year. Maybe Denny might have some insight into this?

No, the 3 free nights have to be used in the same calendar year prior to Dec 20th.
