The Issa Foundation has given a reconditioned and equipped ambulance to Negril. I hope it fairs better than previous ones. In any case it is good to know that at least one of the major resort companies has realized and tried to tackled the problem of poor emergency healthcare in Negril beyond contracting with the untrustworthy medical contractor company so many are using, Every resort should want better and reasonable emergency healthcare options in the area, especially as the traveling (paying) public is older than it used to be.
I hope this ambulance saves many and I (and all of you) never need to see the insdie of it!
CN in 3 days and Rockhouse after that. (DIF is bad!)

Roy, we look forward to your updates on the monster next door to Couples, AKA the Royalton. And whether jet skis are still banned. We'll be at Couples in two weeks.

And hopefully no close encounters with the new Negril ambulance.

Negril7 -
I will definitely report back on the Royalton and more importantly (to me) it's impact on my little slice of heaven at the CN nude beach.

Friends have told me that people working for the hotel have been approaching people on the beach to offer a free breakfast if they listen to a spiel and look the place over. Not sure if that means there are Time Shares or what. I'll know in less than 48 hours! smile

As to the ambulance, I am very pleased it is there but still know it's just a drop in the bucket toward what Negril needs in terms of medical care options. I never ever thought about it when I first started going to Hedo in the late 80's ... but the years and the meds you take every day make you plan ahead a little more.
All the best!
Roy

Just back from 11 days in Negril, 7 and CN and 3 at Rockhouse.
My biggest concern about our trip to CN in the spring of 2016 was that I heard that the construction next door to the nude beach at CN might be a problem... but it wasn't really at all.

My biggest concern last week was if the Royalton (no open and occupied) might be a problem due to increased foot traffic along Bloody Bay.. but it really wasn't at all. No problem. Royalton appears to be about half done and less than half occupied as of last week. It's impact on our vacation experience at CN was pretty much non existent. For now... no problem mon!
The food, service, beach, rooms, etc... all continue to be top quality and will keep us coming back to CN for now. If Royalton becomes more of a problem we will adjust then, but for now it's just not an issue.
I'll put together at trip report and email it to Denny in the near future.
Respect and good travels!
Roy

We are at Couples Negril right now, and like Roy, we spend most of the day in the a/n section right next to the Royalton.

I'll echo Roy's thoughts in that the Royalton has not affected our vacation nor our enjoyment of Couples. Yes there is more foot traffic. I would guess there are maybe 100-150 people staying at the Royalton - enough that they had a big beach party last night with a temporary stage built out in the water.

And to their credit, nobody at the Royalton seems to care that there are a bunch of 50+ year olds floating naked out in the water right next door.

Of course if there are only 100-150 people staying at a resort with 599 rooms, that means, at most you have 1/8th of the capacity of the resort staying that at that time. I would hope that small a number of people would not have a huge impact... yet.
