having been to hedonism on 3 different occasions, we
were not quite sure what to expect from a resort within
the USA that only offered 15 rooms total. upon our
arrival (10/22 - 10/26 ) we were greeted by a very
friendly staff who made us feel welcome and at
ease right from the start. we were offered
margaritas and brought out to see the resort, where we
were introduced for the first time to the other couples
relaxing and sunning by the pool.
we were led to our room, which was very comfortable
with a high quality mattress and bedding, as well as
high end soaps and shampoos. there is a
mini-fridge and microwave which were handy since
although they do wine and margaritas (as well as light
fare and lunch), it was nice to have access to some
snacks and drinks of our own.
daytime is spent around the pool or hot tub sunning and
drinking margaritas, as well as sampling dewey (the
owners) various shot options, all of which were fun to
drink (poured from the bottle to the mouth) and
refreshing. there is open intamacy (much more so
then hedonism) everywhere and since it is a smaller
resort, within our 5 day stay there we met pretty much
everyone and enjoyed the company of them all.
the couples ages (there were some single females, no
single men allowed) ranged from early 20's to mid 60's
with all shapes and sizes represented. the resort
is listed as clothing optional, but with the exception
of morning robes, and towels to and from the room to the
lounge chairs for sunning, or lobby for a drink or bite
to eat, most guests are nude pretty much all of the
time. (the weather is perfect in plam springs pretty
much everyday and night!)
night time was spent by most at the "disco" (must say the
music playlist put together by dewey the owner is truly
amazing, it is very diverse and ranges from old to new,
but seemingly nothing plain or "ordinary"...
always something to treat your ears to, as well as get
the dance floor hopping... there is a big round bed in
the middle of the disco for those so inclined (many
were!) and the party runs into the wee hours most
nights. (weekends more so then during the week as they
do have night passes available which doubles the number
of couples on most weekend evenings)
again, the openess and amount of intimacy is
definitely much higher then that of hedo, but the
feeling of being comfortable if one does not want to
participate, or only participate to ones own level of
comfort is still very much in place.
if you are looking for something unique within the U.S.
that is relaxing, sensual, and a wonderful way to spend
a trip filled with sun and fun (and lifestyle friendly),
we would recommend the Sea Mountain Inn in Desert Hot
Springs as 2 thumbs up!
