DTM & Juju - February, 2007

We visited the Sea Mountain Spa in Dessert Hot Springs from February 9th – 12th 2007.  It was a wonderful relaxing long weekend.  Dewey, Julie, Angie and Tim were great.  They took wonderful care of us and made sure we had everything we needed.

Dewey had a great eclectic selection of music which played in the outdoor areas of the resort.  It was relaxing when it needed to be and rowdy and rocking when it needed to be.

The Resort and Amenities:

The rooms were spacious and comfortable.  Our room had a wonderful king size bed and extra pillows, which made Juju very happy.

The pool was small, but was never crowded.  The water was heated to a perfect temperature so it was warm (but not too warm) when it was a bit nippy outside.

The hot tub was a great group gathering place for all the guests.  The temperature was consistent.  The great thing about the hot tub was the glass wall which acted as a windbreaker on the south-side of the hot tub area.  This helped make the hot tub comfortable even when the dessert wind acted up while allowing a clear view of the mountains.

When we were there the disco was more of a playroom than a disco.  We never saw anyone "dancing"; however, the room was very popular.  The lovely round king plus bed was in use most of the evening as were the sofa and chairs discreetly tucked in the corner.  The room boasted a fireplace and a dancing pole in the corner.

The food area was near the front office.  The breakfast was good.  The best part of breakfast was this lovely rice dish they made there.  Yummy!  They also had hardboiled eggs, pastry, muffins, toast and cereal.  There was also juice and coffee and assorted mixers for the “hair of the dog,” if needed.  Lunch was light and the main course was a oriental chicken salad.  There were also chips, cheese and crackers.  This was plenty of food to keep us going until we ordered dinner in or went out to eat.

The resort was small.  DTM made his usual exploration of new environments in less than two minutes.  While exploring the grounds he found the outdoor kitchen which he wouldn’t mind having in our backyard.  Unfortunately the kitchen at Sea Mountain cannot be used yet because of pesky little city ordinances.  We hope they can find a way to use it in the future.

Our Trip:

We arrived with our good friends P & C at about 3PM on Friday the 9th.  They quickly checked us in and showed us to our rooms.  We unloaded the car and got naked.  We met some lovely people while floating in the pool and hung out.  Margaritas were brought to us poolside.  The party music was rockin’ and it was time for body shots and tastes of frozen Cuervo from the host with the squirt bottle. Yum!  We ordered from the take-out menu at the front desk. The order wasn’t perfect – they substituted potatoes for pasta with the shrimp dish.  But, the food was okay and worth staying naked for.  After dinner, we went back to the pool with bevs from our room.  We don’t know what time it was when we left the pool, but we happily went back to our rooms and passed out.

Saturday was beautiful, not too hot – not too cold.  We got a couple’s massages Saturday morning with Sylvia and Ge.  They were very small women with very strong hands.  We both agreed that it was one of the better massages we have had.  We hung out in the serenity garden all day.  It was very relaxing.  That evening we went out to meet another friend (not staying at Sea Mountain) at Bellini’s restaurant in Palm Dessert for a group Birthday dinner.  We were celebrating DTM’s and C’s birthdays.  We all had a great time. Then it was Back to Sea Mountain to get naked and party some more and converse around the fire pit (it was a bit nippy that night). We went to bed earlier than the night before… we needed to recoup for the next day.

Sunday, we got up for breakfast and it was very windy but the sun was out so it was relatively comfortable with a robe on in the sun. After breakfast, we went back to our room and managed to fall asleep again. Dan woke up at about noon. We then went out to join everyone, most were hanging in and around the Hot tub (warm water, direct sunlight and shelter from the high winds) For dinner we ate food we brought with us. Throughout the day we lost many couples as they headed back to real life. So, between there being fewer people and the chill from the wind, that evening was a little quieter than the past 2 nights, but still much fun was had.

Monday, we got up, grabbed some breakfast and chose to eat inside our room. The sun was out but had not yet warmed the grounds to be warm enough to be naked. After breakfast we lazily and reluctantly started to pack and finally got dressed to head home.

We have been to Hedo III many times with our travel group. Sea Mountain helped reduce our dreaded island fever (DIF).   However, it made us even more homesick for Jamaica; we are counting the days until our August trip.

Thanks to Dewey and the entire Sea Mountain staff for a wonderful mini-vacation.

Cheers,

DTM & Juju
