Hedonism II

Dave & Donna - March, 2014

We stayed at the "N" Resort mid- March. Will also compare to Hedo II

Beach- Nicer sand than Hedo, about the same amount of large rocks about area. Surf gets ruff as day goes by. So does the wind. A lot of afternoons, you couldn't sit on the beach because it felt like a sand blaster. But it was a nice beach otherwise. No resort to the right and you can walk a good long stretch on empty beach. Have several covered beds on beach- nice.

Rooms- Older, rustic feel. But everything worked fine and they were super-clean. Housekeeping did a super job. One day we had no water, went to report it and it was fixed in 30 minutes. They have a turn down service. We didn't really want it, but what was nice is when they come in ( at dinnertime) they change the trash-again- and replace any towels you used to ready for dinner. Nice to start the day with fresh towels! The bed was hard, but I switched to the small day bed in the room and slept great. LOVE the daybed on the balcony!!

Grounds are beautiful. Long established growth and LUSH! Groundskeeper, Winston all too happy to give us a tour and told us lots about the resort and area.

Food- Since there were 40-50 people on average, it is hard for them to set out a big buffet. Most days, they took reservations and you got your dinner cooked to order. Breakfast was buffet. Lunch was at pool grill. soup and salad bar, order your sandwich. While we missed the huge buffet we were used to at Hedo, we were greatly impressed with the entree's we ordered. Each dish was rich and full of flavor. There may not have been a lot of quantity--but the QUALITY was MUCH better. The servings could have been a bit bigger. Did miss the midnight buffet at Hedo. We got a little hungry about 9:00 a couple nights.

EC's- They tried, but hard to get that few motivated. We played a lot of pool volleyball. They had several games and goat races on the beach. There is a small room right behind the waterslide that looks out over the ocean. Stocked with chairs, books and games. They also have a very nice game room. 2 pool tables, chess, etc. with board games and big comfy couches and chairs.

Gym is small, but adequate. Disco looked nice, was not used. Very nice piano bar. Spa was also closed, giving massages on beach.

Staff- they were wonderful. They all remembered our names and were genuinely friendly. They enjoyed talking with us as much as we did them. We got excellent service. They walked the beach and pool, offering to get us drinks.  They DO tip here, but we never got the feeling they expected it. They told us  about half the guests tip. Sad for the fantastic service.

Bad-- Transportation to any excursions was a nightmare unless you got a lot of people to go along. Gas when we left was sitting at $ 6.00 a gallon. They wanted $125.00 to take two of us  a half hour to Nine Mile. Second, we were quickly told that we would have to be careful and hide in out rooms to smoke any ganja. Otherwise,, Freddie(the manager) would kick us out of the resort.

That sucked!

As much as they try, the resort is boring as hell after supper. No one seemed to go to the piano bar and the disco never opened. Nice quiet resort by day, ghost town by night. Nice if you just want quiet and to relax. Missed the fun in the evenings at Hedo.

This resort has SO much potential. Sad to see so many buildings not opened, but understandable. If they can get their numbers up, I think more of the resort would be utilized.

Special people- Roxanne took care of our room. Such a sweet and funny lady.

Winston the gardener, climbed a palm tree and cut down coconuts for us!

,Chefs Martin and DeMarley ROCK!!!!    EC's Anthony and Chantel were great.

Serving staff- Tina, Chantel and Kevin-----wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!

Started out days with Patricia and Megan's beautiful smiles and hearts.

Ended the evening with NiCoy's bright smile. He's a sweetie!

Would we go back? Hard question. We watch Hedo's rates climb and climb. We love the fun Hedo brings, but look at how many more days we can get at "N" for the same price. It was a nice, relaxing vaca----but we DID miss Hedo.

If the staff hadn't been SO super, it might have sucked.
