Jim & Charles
From the 10th to the 17th of May, Charles and I
(Jim) spent our 4th time at Hidden Beach.
When we were there in December, there was a lot of
damage and a ton of work to be done after the hurricane.
What we found this time was the beauty of the
resort restored for the most part, smiles on the part of the staff in
welcoming us once again and plenty of sun.
And, by keeping in contact with people from
earlier visits, i was like home week as several couples we know joined us for
a fun filled week.
Of equal importance -- the many new friends we met
and want to keep in contact with via e-mail.
As far as the resort --
The second and third floor balconies have been
closed in and there is a Jacuzzi (sp) on part of the balcony and then a window
opened other area. It does give these rooms more space.
The natural aquarium right in front of the hotel
out from the beach is back. We snorkeled almost every day and enjoyed
seeing the fish which have returned -- a good thing.
The large covered pool is not in operation at this
time -- we were told within two weeks but it looks like two or three months as
management is working on getting the infra-structure in place....increase
staff, menu items, etc.
One major problem was the lack of hand rails for
the pool and swim up suites. Management indicated that these hand rails
would be in place within a couple weeks. This is a must since there is
nothing to hold on to when entering or exiting the pool....a danger if someone
slips and falls.
Also, many of us were alarmed at the lack of
plastic glasses. We were told this was a cost effective decision by
corporate...but do they realize what could happen if one of these glasses
breaks in or around the pool area? This needs to be corrected as soon as
possible.
The food was pretty good...but there were times
when the entree was on the menu several days in a row suggesting the
possibility of over purchase.
The one thing which was very obvious was the
warmth of the staff towards the guests and the obvious belief that they were
very concerned about Hidden Beach and are doing everything they can to make
each and every guest comfortable.
It is so relaxing when vacationing at Hidden
Beach. We plan on returning in December to enjoy, once again, this great
