Dave & Staci - January, 2015
January 16-24, 2015
We arrived at MoBay around 12:40pm. Immigration was rather quick.
Customs was horrible and we waited in line for over an hour.
We used Rocky’s adventure Tours
http://rockystaxiandtourservice.com/
for our ride to
the resort. Rocky’s was prompt and very professional. We met Santana who
promptly greeted us and escorted us to our ride. Rocky’s also picked us
up at the resort at the end of the week. Clinton was our return driver
who had a very nice vehicle that had great AC.
Arrival and check in at the resort was fast. In less than 15
minutes we were in our room and headed to the beach.
Room
We stayed in room 1126 (Ocean view prude) this was our ninth trip
but our first to stay on the prude side. We enjoyed it and did not have
any issue with the walk. The room was freshly painted, new bed and
linens. Otherwise the room is the same old room. The shower was actually
a tub with shower door. The shower door leaked pretty badly. Management
was advised and stated that it would be fixed. The room was clean, maid
service quick and there were never any issues.
Food
Dining room service - The food was far better than two years ago.
The food was much better quality and there seemed to be more open food
stations and food options. I did not hear any complaints. More curried
Goat would have been appreciated.
Nude Beach grill- The line stayed long most of the time but moved
fairly quickly. The quality of food here was also superior. Jerk chicken
was available all day.
Pastafari – while we were there the name was changed back to
Pastafari and the sign was added over the door awning. The food was
fantastic.
Harry San – Great as usual.
The dining room staff, bar staff, maids, grounds keepers,
watersports and all other staff always had a smile and a hello. They all
seemed much happier than two years ago.
Updates to the resort
Most notable was the courtyard makeover outside the piano bar. This
was a great update that promoted gathering in a nice well-appointed
area.
The bathrooms next to the piano bar are AWESOME! The men’s room is
no longer a one “seater” there are three toilets. According to my wife
the ladies restroom are just as nice.
The nicest update for us was the nude pool bathrooms. The men’s
room was designed a little odd. The men’s urinals are open to anyone
that walks by. Not really an issue unless you have shy kidneys. There
are two regular toilets as well with doors.
The Piano bar is updated and much nicer. New paint, removed the
wall that housed the fish tank. All of the glass at the back of the
piano bar was replaced and looks very nice. There is a new smoking are
behind the piano bar. Smoking is limited to designated smoking areas
resort wide.
We heard that the dining room and front desk area were slated to be
updated, although no date was give when this would start.
Complaint
Only one real complaint. The complaint was with a male guest who
was OUT OF CONTROL. This guy inappropriately grabbed one of our female
friends at dinner. The next day the same male guest was in the nude pool
with shorts on. The guest was harassing Winston by grabbing him and
failing to listen when Winston tried to get the guest to get a plastic
drink cup instead of the drink glass he had in the pool. Another guest
grabbed the glass and poured it in a plastic cup. This guest became so
uncooperative several male guests surrounded him as he was arguing with
security right on the main nude pool deck. To make a long story short,
this male had at least three encounters with security and he was never
asked to leave the property. The actions of one male guest had most of
the other guests very upset. The male continued to walk around the
resort with an attitude and was seen harassing guests the remainder of
the week. Security and management did nothing.
People who had been naked all week walking to their beach chairs
with shorts on were approached by security instantly and told to remove
their clothes. The rules were very inconsistent and seemed less than
fair in a couple of instances. Some people (male and female) were
allowed to wear clothes; others were not while at the nude pool.
People were told if you don’t want to be nude go to the prude side it is
clothing optional.
Some people were stopped for PDA’s others were not. We have no
real issue either way but consistency would be nice. Rules should be
posted or given in a pamphlet as you check in so there are no questions.
Conclusion
The resort looks great, new life has been breathed into the resort.
We were told the resort was at 100% occupancy but seemed much less than
years in the past. Overall this was one of the best weeks we have ever
spent at Hedo. We made new friends and enjoyed spending time with old
friends.
