Bruce - November, 2015
My
review from January was mediocre due to not having a decent place to
smoke a cigar after dinner, inconsistencies in enforcement of "no public
PDA" rule, and lack of spicy Jamaican food. The resort continues to
change, mostly improving. We just had a great trip and will return
again. There is still not a great setup for after-dinner smokers. The
area by the tennis court now has some lighting and seating but was
compared by some to "Leper colony" and "time out" area. The area around
the pool is becoming the new smoking area but is so loud during dinner
entertainment, you can't have a conversation. I think they should
convert the ping pong room or casino into a covered smoking lounge. The
changing PDA rules seemed to be more consistent now. Anything goes in
the pool and hot tub, but not on the public beach during daytime. Of
course the Enforcers won't get wet, so anything goes on the floating
raft. It used to be that anything goes anywhere but I guess you can't
have everything forever. The Jamaican food was better. Most times the
spices were good. One day the curried goat was amazing. Staff were
great. Rooms still need a facelift. The new premium rooms have design
issues. The big wall mirror was replaced by an artsy "fragmented mirror"
that is useless. Bedside tables have no drawers for storing stuff.
Everyone at Hedo has stuff! Anyone in the room can see someone sitting
on the toilet. How about frosting the glass? Fortunately the new rooms
still have a mirror on the ceiling, the most important thing. Beach
drink servers were lacking. I was only offered a drink twice in the week
that I was there. I thought that service was eliminated until the last
day, when a drink server appeared.
