Mark & Deana - July, 2012

July 21st to August 1st trip report

Arrived at Mo bay and was met with the usual long customs line but to our surprise the line moved amazing fast as compared to prior years. more efficient?  we did check on the recent rumors of transportation discontinuation. the explanation we got was government regulation change made it impossible for the resorts to continue this in order to open up competition in the transportation market. we were told that we should be able to find a taxi for around $20 each, others said $100 total.  either way no problems there mon since we were approached by about 10 taxi drivers before arriving at the super clubs reception area and one should be able to haggle a good price out of them.  still I think we will try Timair next year.

arrived at the resort and was meet by the usual wonderful people we have grown to love over the years. check in was much fast and efficient than years before and we were at our room with in 20 minutes of our arrival with big Tony 10 minutes behind us with our luggage.

Room was clean.  Hot water was plentiful but we did have to let the shower run for awhile to get hot. towels were a bit scarce at first due to a broken washer but by the third day of our visit the problem was fixed and towels were everywhere.  AC was rocking!

here is our take on the resort:

Bar service was excellent. nude pool bar did run low on certain liquors but made a comeback and did just fine. delory, alicia, martha, and yes scuba as well as others did a great job keeping up with the crowd. the drinks were NOT watered down. if one lets a drink with ice in it sit on a hot day then the ice will melt and water your drink down. if you drink the darn thing like a person should when partying their arse off then I assure you no watered down drinks were found.

main dining room was a huge surprise. food was amazingly an improvement over past years. we expected to find the usual curried goat and ox tail. to our amazement we found dishes such a mushroom chicken and a variety of other well made foods. we were told that they had a new chef. we said thank god.

Martinos still was great. Moonason <----- probably misspelled that,  was very good. the sea bass was awesome. definitely an improvement there.

The resort grounds were beautiful as usual. the nude beach was ok. sea grass was ever present in the shallows. the did dump a few loads of new sand in the nude beach area.  prude beach was nice.

Water sports crew was absolutely amazing. the scuba staff was wonderful. Derek, grantley, richie, denton, and timain. (sorry if I miss spelled any of these) did an awesome job.  dive boat was down an engine for most of visit but when they did fix the other engine we were rewarded with a run out to sandy slope which was a new dive site for us and very nice.

the nude pool was incredible. the Freaky Family had so much energy flowing in that pool that it was a major party from the time we got in the pool till the time we got out. and yes PDA's were present and abundant. all I can say is "waffle iron"  those that were there know what that means and those that don't really should come next year at end of July and find out.

Entertainment staff was present and poolside with loads of fun. no BJ contest or human sundae as seen in the past but still has some fun games.  Music was rocking!

Piano bar I am sad to say was horrible. not just bad but horrible! the new guy screamed into the mike and i'm still not sure what he was doing. we stayed maybe 10 minutes on most nights.

the disco was fun as usual and was busy most nights.

The night entertainment was incredible. there was a night here or there I can say was ok but most were excellent. the entertainment staff did a rendition of bon jovi "its my life" that was the best we've ever heard and of course the Diva Winston was as usual awesome!

costume participation was ok but we represented anyway and had fun doing it.

As far as we are concerned this ranks as probably one of the best trips we have ever had at Hedo.  its still a 2 star resort with five star people but I can promise that the energy level was rocking and we loved every minute of it. we'll be there with the freaky family next year for sure!
