Just back, trip #5,
All and all another
good trip, as with anything there was good, bad and indifferent, grounds
are still looking excellent although some power washing and a few licks
of paint would go a long way in sprucing things up, first time ever had
such a long wait at MBJ, 4 or 5 planes landed around the same time and
the lines were backed up to the end of the second ramp (by the railway
pictures), over 90 minutes to get thru, flight down with westjet was
delayed, flight back was a living hell (over 26 hours door to door for a
3.5 hour flight) this ass will never sit in a westjet seat again,
anyway’s.........
The Good: the piano
bar was rocking every night, Dion was in fine form along with the
guests, the new bartender at the Piano bar was excellent, only complaint
is same as last year and year before that is the Piano bar has a
tendenacy to become a EC or Tour guide show instead of a guest show that
needs to change, if i want to see EC’s i can go to the main stage, all
in all one of the better place’s to hang out on the resort
Charlie in fine form
and a perfect gentleman as always
The dining room,
housekeeping, bar staff excellent give them all a raise, same for front
office staff
Beach was beautiful
as usual, not that crowded as most seemed to enjoy the nude pool during
the day,
Musan and Martino’s
excellent food and service, portions in Martino’s could be a little
bigger
Dancers, local
talent awesome
NYE & Beach dinner-
excellent
Dion, Serena and
Maria all deserve special kudo’s, get job, great service, great
attitude, great people
Great room,
excellent niegbours both from CA, had a blast, nice to relax in our own
hot tub at night and watch the lights with a nice glass of wine
Already booked for
next year
The Bad:
Comparing the NYE
show to last year, sorry the engery was just all over the place, up,
down, up, flat,, down, up just no rythm at all, the bass was so loud my
wife’s boobs were vibrating (ok, maybe not so bad), the performers were
trying to sing over the loud bass which just made it sound like a bag of
cats slammed into a wall, and trying to do ACDC, Queen, Steppenwolf as
show tunes was a failure, ended up leaving halfway thru the show, pretty
sure my hearing has now returned to normal.
Tipping has become
openly blatant, i saw money change hands so many times it looked like a
corner crack store, in some cases not even an attempt to be discreet,
even saw one lady remove money from her neck wallet and just toss it
over the bar to one of the employees while the bar manager was standing
there, i will not get into the whole tipping vs. Non tipping thing here
except to say that it now seems the norm rather than the exception
Had the opportunity
to meet the ugly American, wonder if his rope that he used to tie six
chairs on the beach together for 2 people to use is still up in the
tree,
The indifferent:
Didnt see anything
set up on the rock wall for the two weeks we were there, didn’t try the
spa, already did the cat, in the pool once (prefer the sea) so no news
on any of these
