Steve & Kelly - February, 2010
So, it has
been almost 4 months since we were at H2, I thought I should
finally get off my butt and give our “two bits” about our
inaugural trip to H2. (Been to H3 twice before)
Flight from
Toronto was direct and no issues occurred due to weather (thank
goodness!). Customs and baggage claim in MoBay was
amazingly quiet. We were off the plane, through customs,
bags in hand and on the bus ready to leave within 10-15 minutes!
Although we have never experienced major delays upon entering,
this speed was a definite bonus! Let the party begin….
We had hooked up with another couple through the Visitor
Schedule but they didn’t make it off the plane as fast as us (we
were in the exit row and they were at the back of the plane), so
they didn’t make the bus as fast as we did and had to wait for
the next one.
As we were
the last on the bus, we took off right away. We had been
warned about construction and traffic issues on the way to
Negril but being a Saturday it went fairly smooth with little
stopping. This direction was new for us so we were
busy looking out the at the scenery. The “smoke” stop was
a blessing for me cause I was absolutely frozen from the air
conditioning on the bus and getting out into the Jamacian warmth
was perfect! A couple of rum and cokes and Red Stripes for
hubby, grab my sweater to try and stay warmer…we were off again.
Dropping off
“others” at the resort next to H2 was interesting… We all got
told we were “trash” as they were leaving the bus – nice!
It was probably these idiots who kept coming over every night
with passes just to have a “peek” at the wild side! LOL…
Whatever, I would rather party with “Hedonites” than obvious
stuck up snobs any day.
We had
requested a 2nd floor room which was great except
that stairs up/down were kind of far from our room and we needed
to go to one end of the “unit”, or the other, and then trek
along the walk way to our room. Not bad in the morning
when you are sober but a challenge some nights! LOL
L
Not too
impressed with the room. Not that you go to Hedo for the
rooms, it would be nice to have a bigger bathroom, and one that
isn’t competing with the mould in the tub. Our tub had
literally no glazing left on it. It was pretty bad.
Not sure if they are updating the décor any time soon but I
would recommend it. Other than that, the room was very
clean and I didn’t see one bug during our stay, inside that is.
We were
staying on the nude side. It didn’t take us long to unpack,
strip down and try and find our way to the nude pool.
Determined we were pretty darn close to it which was a bonus.
We found loungers by the pool which we thought was surprising at
the time of day, 2ish? Figured out not much later
that the beach bums (no pun intended - LOL) made their way up to
the pool area around 4ish every day and slithered into the pool
and/or hot tub. The hot tub is MASSIVE!
Our friends
finally made it and came strolling to the pool and found
loungers right beside us. We were all pretty hungry so we
wondered over to the pool bbq. Jerk chicken – YUM!
I’ve tried to make this here at home but it just isn’t the same.
The food was delicious but get in line about 15 minutes before
you really want to get something as it can get really busy at
times throughout the day. Obviously, lunch time, but it
got quite busy again around 3:30-4:30… guess we all needed to
keep the rum/food ratios in balance!
As it was
Saturday when we arrived it was “Fetish” night. Hubby and
I had stocked up over the year (and went a bit nutso at
Christmas - LOL) with great costumes and were excited to dress
up and get up for dinner. This was our friends’ first time
at any Hedo resort (well, hers, not his). She did not know
about the theme nights and didn’t come as prepared but she had
some great little dresses that sufficed just fine and I loaned
her a few extra things that I had with me.
My costume
had a whip and some idiot grabbed it off the bar and wacked me
so hard on the butt that he imprinted grommet marks into my butt
in the shape of the “spade” of the whip! My first night
there and I got to walk around the rest of the week with this
massive bruise on my butt! – Good conversation started though!
LOL… Thank goodness we were all pretty drunk by the time this
happened as none of us could pick this guy out of a line up or
he would have heard from me the next day.
None of us
were disco people so after the entertainment ended we had a few
more drinks and then headed down to the hot tub. Everyone
was just sitting around the edge with some people with their
feet in. It was so darn hot you could hardly put in your
big toe, let along anything you didn’t want “well done”.
J
Not sure why this couldn’t be better regulated as it was crazy
hot one night, okay the next and then hot again… never
consistent.
We tried
lying by the beach one day but I hate the sand getting into
places it just doesn’t belong so we kept to the pool most days.
H2 is so
much larger than H3 and I found it a really long walk from our
room to the dining room in 6” heels every night so I got wise
and wore my flip flops to the dining room and carried my heals.
We usually had our camera bag which is a knapsack so I just kept
my shoes, etc. in it which worked our great. If you didn’t
want to carry a bag there are lots of places you could stash
your comfy shoes. Trick is ya just need to remember where
you left them!
We ventured
into the piano bar on Sunday night and met Deon. He
found out it was our first time there so he made hubby and I get
up on the piano and strip down – (see anything you didn’t see
earlier today? LOL)… Then he made me dress hubby in my costume
(naughty school girl) and hubby put his on me. Thank
goodness I have a husband with a great sense of humour as he put
it on and wore it for the night – what a trouper!
Rather than
going through every night, suffice it to say, we spent days
lounging by the pool and nights partying at the piano bar, after
the nightly entertainment. (I have attached pictures to
show the fun we had). We also took the catamaran to Rick’s
Café which was a lot of fun but didn’t compare to the fun of the
Wet & Wild cruise out of H3.
We went to
the Japanese restaurant a few times. I must say that I
prefer the inside atmosphere at H3 over H2 but it was still very
good. We also went to Pastaferi (changed to some other
name I don’t remember now) and it was also good but we all
decided we liked the buffet best. The food was
consistently abundant and delicious and you got what you want,
when you wanted.
The
entertainment crew were amazing, just like we have experienced
as H3. Tressina and Stephanie were too funny (see the
pic.) and Gary, Melanie, and Rennex were always around and
keeping you entertained. Deon was a blast in the piano
lounge. This was our favourite place and we missed it when
he wasn’t there. All a great group of people that work
more hours than any North American would ever dream of working!
Toward the
end of our trip a couple of groups came in (fluffernutters and
another one I cannot remember). Anyway, one day by the
pool we met this couple from Chicago who had arrived a few days
early that were with the fluffernutters. They seemed very nice
and we chatted with them around the pool and hot tub a few
times. He came on to me but I told him that it isn’t my
thing and he left it at that. His wife on the other hand
just did not know how to take NO for an answer and she kinda
ruined our trip for us. She came on to me in the hot tub
one afternoon and again in the piano bar and just wouldn’t go
away so we had to leave these places to get rid of her. It
really sucked for us cause I was afraid to go to the hot tub and
run into her as I didn’t want any confrontations. I am
just very thankful it was the last couple of nights for us or
our entire trip would have sucked. In the end, only the
last night was no good. It is too bad but some people just
don’t get the meaning of “respect” and need to have
someone who can keep them at bay when they get out of hand.
Overall we
had a really great inaugural trip to H2 and want to send out a
great big hug to Pool–Steve, as well as Rennex, and all of the
entertainment crew. You guys rock!
Till next
time…
