Hedonism II
08 - 22 December 2010
My trip was planned for 08 - 22 December 2010 and everything went pretty
much as planned, with on small exception on the last day of the trip.
Initial air travel was St. Louis - Charlotte - Montego Bay and
everything went exactly as planned with no significant delays or
problems anywhere. Arrival
Immigration in Jamaica was fairly busy, but well organized and moving
smoothly to process a fairly long line of arriving visitors.
Customs wasn't very busy when I got to that stage of things, so
it only took a couple minutes to get processed.
Check-in at the SuperClubs desk was smooth and we only had to wait a few
minutes for everyone to get checked in and for everyone to get loaded
onto the bus for our departure to Negril.
We had the usual short stop at the Golden Apple, and then
proceeded on to Hedo.
Check-in at Hedo was very smooth and everyone was getting processed
fairly quickly. My room was
ready when I arrived, and it looked like everyone else were getting
rooms without delays.
Water temperature and pressure in my room was good and the air
conditioner was also working well during my entire visit.
Weather conditions during my visit were good, although we did have a
couple days that were a bit overcast and abnormally cool, so some people
were wrapped in towels or wearing light jackets, and the water temp also
seemed abnormally cool on those days.
The staff all seemed to be in good form and everyone was doing their
best to provide the guests the best support possible.
Beverage service was very good
and the bar staff were doing an excellent job of taking care of
everything. I thought the
food service was good, although there were a couple of things here or
there other folks were complaining about.
Overall though, I was satisfied with the food and food service.
Grilled lobster was served both Friday nights, and I thought it
was excellent.
The divers missed some diving days due to rough water conditions.
The resort took the dive boat up to Green River to secure it when
we had sea state conditions they thought warranted a bit of extra
caution. A couple of our
friends were there hunting Lionfish on all the diving days, and were
having good success in helping to reduce the population of these
intrusive troublemakers.
Departure from MoBay was delayed very slightly and we arrived in
Charlotte just a little late.
We then had a ground hold due to equipment and aircraft
preventing our approach to the gate.
Arrival Immigration was busier than I've ever seen it at
Charlotte because there was a large flight just ahead of us from Mexico
and I think there was another flight from the Caribbean ahead of us too.
It took a long time to clear Immigration due to the size of the
crowd, although I thought the CBP people were doing a very good job of
managing the situation. I
only had a carry-on bag so I cleared Customs pretty quickly and easily.
The delays, however, resulted in me missing my connecting flight
to St. Louis.
The first US Air representative I talked with was pretty brusque and
unhelpful, so I had a chat with the Supervisor.
The Supervisor did a great job of resolving things to my
satisfaction and got me on a good flight the next day and helped me get
a reduced rate at a good local hotel, so I was happy with their
assistance overall.
I've also posted a review on TripAdvisor.Com if anyone wants any
additional input or ratings I've submitted regarding this trip.
