Trip to Hedo II

 18 - 26 May 2010

Trip to Hedo II on 18 May 2010 was via US Air from St. Louis with connection in Charlotte to Montego Bay.  Both flights were uneventful, with only a minor delay of about 25 minutes leaving Charlotte, and both were far from full capacity.

Arrival in Montego Bay was smooth and both Immigration and Customs were functioning well, so passing through both of them took minimal time after arrival.  The SuperClubs desk was also working well and there was only a minor amount of time required to wait to get everyone rounded up and on the bus.  We all decided to proceed directly to Hedo, so we bypassed the usual stop along the way.

I thought check-in at the resort was pretty uneventful and smooth, but some of the other folks apparently couldn't wait to find something to complain about and started getting worked up about the whole process.  Frankly, I thought it all worked pretty well if folks would just let the front desk folks do their job.

Most mornings were good weather and very pleasant conditions.  Most afternoons included rain that would end before sunset.  As usual, the rain really didn't hinder operations at Delroy's or in the pool and hot tub areas.  While we did have a lot of rain while I was there, it really didn't seem to bother anyone much.

The Piano Bar had some sort of electrical problem one night that caused it to close at about 11:30 one night, but it seemed to be back in operation the next night.

The nude grill, main dining area, the Japanese restaurant, and the Italian restaurant all seemed to be working well and I was happy with the food.  Sure, some folks could find things to complain about with the food, but I was always able to find plenty to eat that I liked and I had no complaints with the food at any of the places.  There was a rumor they were going to have dinner on the beach one night, but that turned out to be just a rumor and dinner was served as usual in the main dining area.

Water conditions in the nude beach swimming area were better and the water had better visibility than I remember from the past few trips.

Everything in my room worked OK and I didn't have any complaints about any of that, although the air conditioner was a bit musty.  Some friends were kind enough to share their can of Lysol with me to spray the air conditioner, and that made a significant improvement.  Housekeeping did a great job of taking care of the room, as usual, so no problems with any of that.

They were having a few IT problems with the Internet Cafe, but those were usually resolved within an hour or two and presented no major problems from my perspective.

Departure on the 26th all worked as planned and the bus ride up to MoBay was pretty much as planned, except for a local detour required up in MoBay due to some road work that was in progress.

US Air was about a half hour late arriving at Montego Bay, so that resulted in about a half hour delay getting out of Montego Bay to Charlotte.  Considering the connection time in the plan, it was cutting it pretty close to clear Immigration, Customs, and TSA Security, then get to the other end of the airport terminal to catch the connecting flight to St. Louis.  As it all turned out, I was able to get to the gate about half way through the boarding process for the flight home as planned.

All in all, I thought everything at the resort was working pretty well and I had a great time.  Looking forward to the next trip ..........................
