HEDOISM 2 TRIP REPORT
My wife and I went to Hedo 2 from October 16-November 2, 2010. We had
not been there for a few years, as Hedo 3 had been our favorite between
the two resorts. Now, of course, it is a moot point. We started off on
the prude side for a few days, and then the A/C went out and so they
moved us to the nude side (never easy to move once you have laid out
your things). Somewhere in that time frame my wife picked up bronchitis
which we believe was on its way when we left Houston. The new nude room
was sure to aggravate it further as it was obvious that someone had
heavily smoked in it even though it was listed as a no smoking room. I
went to Mr. Kevin Levee, the general manager, and told him our problem
and he immediately took action to help us.
All the Hedo 2 folks were very helpful as they removed the
necessary bedding, rugs, and sprayed the room and by the end of the day
you couldn’t tell that anyone had smoked in the room and this made the
rest of our trip an enjoyable one. He personally came looking for me
during lunch when we were in the main eating area and asked me if
everything was OK. I was very impressed with his hands on approach. By
coincidence we met some of the previous employees from Hedo 3 who were
visiting for the day, and who we had gotten to know fairly well, and had
lunch with them. They all spoke very highly of Mr. Levee as they had
become familiar with him when he was the general manager at Hedo 3 at
one time.
During our stay, the baseball championships and football games were
going on, but the TV room A/C wasn’t working. I also mentioned this to
Mr. Levee and he had it fixed fairly promptly. It was my experience that
like other places such as the USA, the boss isn’t always kept appraised
of things and unless he knows about them he can’t fix them. This was the
case at Hedo 2 this time and we were very impressed with Mr. Levee and
his desire to make his visitors happy with their stay and hopefully be
return guests at some future time.
We found the food to be good and plentiful and all the restaurants were
always opened as planned. We did find one quirk in that the normal
vegetable makings for salads were in short supply with no lettuce at
all. Apparently a previous storm a few weeks earlier had flooded most of
the island’s vegetable products which caused the visitors to not have
salad vegetables for a few days, but eventually this was solved somehow.
This is subjective, but we found the evening shows to range from
excellent to good to not so good as is always probably the case. There
was no shortage of liquor, wine, or beer and the pools were always clean
despite a lot of the guests not being so clean with their cigarette
butts, empty drink cups, and empty food dishes from the nude pool snack
bar.
The 29th birthday celebration buffet dinner put on by Hedo 2
was excellent in our opinion. They built little wooden kioshes around
the main dining room pool where each one had a different type of food
that was prepared such as lobster, turkey, fish, hot pasta bar, etc.
Placed cross the pool on a platform were ice sculptures which lasted
until the next morning. They dedicated two kioshes for each entrée so
that the lines of people did not have to wait so long and it worked
well.
It seemed like we had some short amount of rain every day, with one day
of no sun at all. Despite that fact, there was plenty of sun for all.
When folks who were scheduled to leave received their checkout papers in
their rooms the night before, they had already been give a free day as
advertized by Superclubs weather guarantee.
The landscaping and grounds in general were immaculate and we could tell
that they had sprayed for mosquitoes at certain times. The gym was in
good shape except two of the four treadmills were done the entire time
we were there. We were told that H2 management was trying to determine
whether to replace or just repair them. We don’t know the results.
We certainly plan to return next year.
