Jim & Line - April, 2008

Jim and Line – Apr 5 – 12/08

We may say this every time but once again our 9th trip was probably our best yet.  We are not sure why but probably the great people we met online before we left and the ones we met while there.  Who knows – we only hope our paths cross again.  Will break down this report in sections highlighting on a lot of the questions we saw on the board before we left and a lot of the “concerns” that were brought up.

Flight down

For the first time, lots of delays due to weather, mechanics and just being late.  Left Fredericton an hour later than expected so naturally an hour late arriving in Montreal where we had another couple en route to Hedo waiting for us.  On Saturday, naturally we were late leaving due to the clouds being too low.  Just as we could see the runway rising to meet the wheels, the pilot pulled up and circled around.  Seems that they had him landing dangerously close to the plane in front of us.  Another half hour late in landing.  Immigration line was very long and waited about half to three-quarters an hour, luggage waiting then the long walk to customs – no problem mon the Super Clubs Desk was close by.  Air Canada had messed up our return flight and the A.C. Vacations rep heard a brief description on our problems.  Off we went to the Van – and a full one it was although Jake and company were later this year arriving.  After the traditional beer stop we were home in 90 mins – not too awful bad.

We were upgraded at the request of the Air Canada Vacations rep to the nude side – nice!!!!  Resort seems pretty well full with a rare amount of Canadians there thanks to the 50 or so Quebecers.  This group were extremely friendly and loved to party in a big way.  They added to the normal quiet atmosphere at Hedo this time of year.

In all the week was fantastic – the “10” in our little group were great and we miss them all a lot.  Contrats to the “newbies” – they fit in very well and did not take long at all to get used to the Hedo life - maybe even did things they never thought they would ever do anywhere.

Now to enlighten all on some of the things brought up prior to us leaving on the board”

Towels – seem to be plenty of towels throughout the day even with the number of people there.  Towels and face cloths in the room – no problem

Water – Hot water not a problem any day.  Usually showered just before supper and had plenty.  Shower worked fine, no leaks.

A/C – Seem to work just fine.  Had to turn it down some, for me it was a bit too cold.  Only problem we had was the maid turning it off in the morning when she went in but forgetting to turn it back on – no big deal, all it took was a push of the button and on it came.

Food  - To us it was great as usual.  We are not picky eaters and will try almost anything.  Got into the habit of pasta at lunch topped of with some grilled fish every day.  The grand gala buffet was great and for the first time in nine years we had lobster (stir fry).  No complaints with the food at all.

ECs We are not EC fans but they did not bother us and seemed less “in your face”

Art Auction – To the relief of everyone we are sure, there was not a sign of them for the whole week.

Piano Bar – Only made it there a couple of times – didn’t stay long but everyone seemed to be having a good time.  Jake kinda emptied the place when he sang but at least he sang.

Disco – Another first, we actually went there the first night – seemed pretty good although the music was a bit loud for our liking but we stuck it out and had a good time.

Beach Chairs – Never saw so many beach chairs in all our visits – there would be no way possible for any shortage of lounges – anytime!

Staff – We always find the staff great – from Delroy to the front office staff to the maids and grounds people.  They did seem to go out of their way to make you feel welcome and the greetings when we got there – even remembering when we were there last makes you feel more at home.

Bananas – Had bananas for drinks the first couple of days but last 3 or 4 days they were using banana liqueur but then that did not change the taste, just added more pop to the dirty banana.

Highlight – The highlight for both of us was the late afternoon body shot display with Line being the vessel for the body shots with our friends from Quebec.  I enjoyed the chance to watch it and Line really enjoyed her role and was looking for more.

All in all we had very little to complain about.  It did rain a couple of days around 4:30 or so for a bit but no big deal we were in the pool so we were already wet.  The “10” headed off to Ricks Cafe on afternoon – our first time there in 5 years or so.  Quite a few changes and had a great time although it has become more pricey than it was before.  The people we hung with most of the week all fit in so well, it was like we knew each other for ever.  To the “10” (you know who you are) – we miss you so much and do hope we can do it all over again next April.  Who knows we may even make the hot tub one of these nights.  As we landed home, we were greeted by flurries...Welcome back to Eastern Canada!
