Mike - April, 2007

M and P - Hedonism II: April 13-20, 2007.

Arrived at the resort after about an hour and a half bus ride.  Not nearly as "crazy" as I had expected after reading the posts about this ride.  I didn't find it any worse than any other bus ride.  Travelling through parts of Jamaica on the way to H2 was interesting.  Met a few nice people on the bus, and ended up hanging around with them the rest of the week we were there.

We are a mid 30's couple and wanted a place with a nude beach so we choose Hedo2 after reading many reviews and trip reports.  What struck me was that so many people have been to this resort 10, 20, 30 or more times.  I think that speaks for itself.  We were there with Doc's 100th visit celebration going on.  Wow, thats alot of trips.

Rooms: We booked a room on the prude side with the intention of spending all our time on the nude side.  This is exactly what ended up happening.  The rooms on the prude side that I saw, in addition to the rooms on the nude side I saw appeared to be identical.  We saved alot of money staying on the prude side and walking to the nude side each morning.  Its probably a 3 minute walk.  Once you're there, I didn't return to my room once the entire week until the end of the day.  There is no problem doing this.  Most of the rooms on the nude side while we were there had no air conditioning.  Our room was nice and cool with working A/C.  Sorry...  :)

Activities: There is a lot of activities planned by the staff and available for you to do.  On the first night I read over the list of things and picked out at least 6-7 things I wanted to do.  Well, you probably will do the same and end up doing next to nothing like us.  Lying about the nude bar/pool/beach just seems so much better than the juggling lessons you had in mind on the first night!  haha.  We did do a scuba trip (we are certified) that went to a reef and was 65 feet deep.  Great guides, decent equipment and an all around good time.  We liked the dive and wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

Shows: We thought the nightly entertainment was quite good.  We've been a fair amount of vacation spots, and HedoII's nightly events were as good, and usually better than most other places that we have been.  The staff is very energetic and hard working.  They put on great shows which we enjoyed.  There is alot of audience participation which is great.  The theme nights are alot of fun (toga, lingerie, etc) and I'd highly recommend participating in them.  I wasn't impressed with the Disco bar - its way too small and there wasn't alot of people going there the week we were in H2.

Sex: If you've never been there before (we hadn't) you are likely thinking about "Whats it going to be like, will everyone be hitting on us, will it be uncomfortable...."  There was a small amount of open sex, blowjobs, etc. around the nude pool/hottub in the daytime.  I'm talking about 3-4 "instances" per day for a few minutes each.  By the end of the first couple days it seems so "normal" that you won't even notice.  And thats the best part - it become totally normal and part of some people's fun.  The thing is, you can pretty much do whatever you want - and no one cares.  Isn't that what a vacation is really all about?

The hottub also wasn't as "wild" as I've read on these boards while we were there.  At night, there would be a number of couples (4-5) in the hottub getting it on with each other and we didn't see anything "outrageous."  If you want to be involved the potential is there for you, and if you don't then there is no pressure.  I'd be surprised if anyone even approached you if you weren't overtly expressing an interest.

Food: Friday night's "Grand Buffet" was pretty "grand."  Fabulous shimp and a reallly nice spread of food out on the beach area.  Great first impression as that was the night we arrived.  The rest of the week the food was pretty good for a buffet style resort.  Reasonable selection of food, and decent quality.  Overall I'd rate the buffet food as above average for resorts.  We made reservations for each of the "specialty" restaurants as well.  Pastafari was really good if you like pasta (which I do).  Great service and nice atmosphere.  Service was quick enough that you don't spend your whole night there.  I'd do Pastafari again next trip.  The Sushi/Japenese restaurant was also quite good and cooked right in front of you in a type of food show.  You sit at the table with other people which is great for socializing.  We also did the "Jamaican Cafe" which wasn't overly good.  I'd skip that one next time.  The burgers, fries and of course Jerk Chicken at the nude bar were excellent and we ate them most days for lunch as really didn't leave the nude pool/beach much of the week!

The trip was fantastic, and I'd highly recommend this resort.  After one trip we understand why so many people have been there multiple times.

Have fun.
