This year started as many in the past have, LAX, redeye, to Mo-Bay, first
flight in, thru Immigration and Customs in about 10 minutes total including
the wait for our bags, off to the Superclubs desk where we had our first
delay, it was closed, no worries, man soon come mon. He did, we filled
out our cards and were taken to our shuttle.
This year we were taking a detour, we, along with another couple, had decided
to see what Hedo 2 was like for a few days before joining the Cocktails
International group at Hedo 3, so we will cover a bit of each in this report
from our perspective and then at the end tell you which we prefer and why.
The ride to Negril was as eventful as it could be at that early hour, it took
about an hour, perhaps a bit more to get to Hedo 2, but honestly, the company
with our friends and the truly first day bright spot for Hedo 2, Anthony, a
Superclubs employee, who rode in our shuttle, made the time fly by.
We arrived at Hedo 2 and were told the rooms were not ready, to have a seat in
"The Pit", the wife of the couple we were traveling with asked if it would be
possible to get rooms next to each other, we were both booked in ROH, she was
told "no" and joined us in "The Pit". About 15 minutes later, after
being informed by a guest that was checking out going home that the resort was
not very busy, we were summoned from "The Pit" to get our rooms. Not
only could we not get rooms next to each other, but we could not get rooms in
the same building. We were not told where our rooms were or how to get
to them. There was no mention of an Orientation or of who would be
taking our bags to the aforementioned rooms that we had no idea how to get to.
Here comes Anthony, just 15 minutes after dropping us off and telling us how
much we would love our first trip to Hedo 2, so much so, he was sure we would
switch. We explained to him about the rooms, about the baggage and about
the Orientation, since we had no idea where to go. He said "no worries",
gathered up all our bags, took us and showed us where our rooms were and then
showed us around the resort. Anthony, if you see this, you saved the
stay at Hedo 2. Our view of the resort...its huge, we were on the
Prude side, that's a long walk to the nude side. We spent the majority of or
time at the nude pool where we got to meet Paulette, a very nice person and as
instructed, we simply asked about her daughter, man what a smile she sported.
The beach was nice, we live in the desert, not a deal breaker. Ganja was
available if you asked and consumed not only at the nude pool, but we even saw
it one morning at breakfast. We ate at Munsans, Patafari's and the
buffet...buffet, morning noon and night, you cant go hungry, that being said,
we are not picky eaters. Munsans, outside, was to hot, the food was
fine. Pastafari we loved the food, the wine and the service. We
did venture off the resort, no easy task, it took 5 years to get us off Hedo
3...lol...we went to Ricks, great view and our friends even jumped, we found
our driver and he took us to Margaritaville in the same trip...I needed a
Negril Margaritaville T-Shirt to complete the Jamaica island set...mission
accomplished. Overall, would we go back to Hedo 2, yes, the food was
great, the EC's didn't seem to be as involved during the day as much as they
are at Hedo 3 but they were surely talented at night, most of the service was
great outside of the initial desk clerk contact and the company was excellent.
It rained 2 of the 3 days we were there, nothing that kept us inside all day
on either of the days it rained.
Up early on 8/3 for our shuttle back to the airport, we were meeting another
couple coming in on the LAX redeye going to Hedo 3 with our group, Cocktails
International. We arrived at 6 am, the Superclubs person walked by us
and we introduced ourselves, he said he would be right back, he was, he told
us that the flight had been delayed, instead of arriving at 6:30 am, it
arrived about 8 am. It was all good, we sat outside the airport and for
the first time, was approached by someone wanting to sale the local greenery,
we declined and he was on his way Our friends arrived and we were put
into 2 small vans, well the 6 of us in one and our luggage into another and
off to Hedo 3 we went. The road is still under construction...we
understand that it will be completed by Christmas..we didn't ask what year,
but they seem to think that it will be this year, good luck. The time
flew again, it was the company, about 1.5 hours later we arrived at the
resort. None of our rooms were ready and we found out that the quad was
closed. No biggie as we were OVN, but one of the other couples had
booked a Quad pool room ground floor. They were going to be able to open
one portion of the quad later that day, so off to the nude pool we all went
after being told to come back at 3 pm. This was our 6th trip to Hedo 3,
we knew where to find the party and we did. We went back at 3 pm only to find
out the rooms were still not ready, off to the Scotch Bonnet for lunch, the
front desk lady came to get us and told us our rooms were ready, back we went
to the front desk. Room keys in hand, we were told our requested room
was not available, but that we could move into it on Sunday if we would like,
no problems, we still had first floor OVN, 700 building, instead of the 600,
no biggie. We went to our room to find that they had upgraded us to a
suite, back to the front desk we went with chocolate bars, the big ones, in
hand and thanked the nice lady and told her that if it made her life easier,
we would gladly stay in that room our entire stay, and stay we did.
The nine nights and 10 days at Hedo 3 seemed to fly by, we met up with old
friends from the staff, Serena and Suzette in the bars were their usual selves
along with Kevin, Kelvin, Ionie and Bevelyn. We were sad to hear that
David had moved on, truly the hardest working man on the island, but were
pleased to hear he is bettering himself.
The rooms were fine, no mold, hot water seemed to be a plenty if you waited
until after breakfast to shower. The food was fine, Munsans and the
buffet were as expected, Pastafaris A/C was out and made eating there almost
unbearable. They did finally put some small a/c units in, but honestly,
it didn't make that much of a difference. The EC's were their usual busy
selves getting people involved.
For the second year in a row we made it off the resort, we took the Nine Mile
excursion, we had talked about it for years, this year we did it, wish we had
just left it at the talking phase, my momma always said if you cant say
anything nice, dont say anything, that being said, if you want to know more,
our id is posted here and we will gladly answer any questions you have.
There really is no comparison of the resorts between Hedo 2 and Hedo 3, they
each have their points...
food, we give the nod to Hedo 2,
size of the resort, we prefer Hedo 3, everting is just right there, we dont
want to walk a mile to get naked or to eat.
Customer Service, Hedo 3,
Beach, Hedo 2
Nude pool, Hedo 3
Overall we prefer Hedo 3, but that's not to say we would never go to Hedo 2
again.
Sorry for the length of the post, that's about it in a nutshell, please feel
