Scott & Norma - October, 2005

Whatever anyone says or does at  Hedo II is to stay at Hedo II. That’s funny, because with all of the chat rooms and web sights and parties, somehow, I think Hedo II is one of the most talked about places I know of. Thus begins our trip on October 25, 2005.

We booked our stay with Denny P. Thanks Denny! The room was perfect! Close to the pool, hot tub, and nude beach.

We arrived mid afternoon after a pretty good bus ride. I sat right in front by the driver, which I never would have done 20 years ago. The old “ride from hell” has really improved. Of course, since I love to talk, I made good use of the time there talking to the bus driver and people around that were willing to listen, and join in. The couple sitting across hubby had also been to Negril many times, so we had plenty to talk about. I am sorry I don’t remember their names, but I do remember he is a fan of the Oshkosh,Wisconsin yearly air show. Also, I send my best to his wife as she was set to have surgery on her back as soon as their Hedo trip was over. Hope all went well for her. I am sure people wondered what kind of couple we are because after 28 years of marriage, we tend to speak out with comments most people probably take as serious. Sorry, though, as miserable as  he says he is, we are stuck together like glue. There’s  one thing about being married so long. We know each other like the back of our hands, which makes us unseperable. Well, so far at least.

We arrived at the drive way that would take us to Hedo. First stop, though was Grand Lido to let off the people that were staying there. I am sure that place is extremely nice, but not my kind of vacation. Let’s see, they wait on you hand and foot. Pamper you when ever and where ever you need it, Feed you gourmet food. Massage you, entertain you, Have I missed anything? Lets see, all for a mere , well, I have no idea, but I am  sure it is twice what I could spend at most places. Now then, everyone was off and the rest of us were headed across the road to HEDO II! Yippee! Tony was there to greet everyone. What a nice guy. So personable! We had a terrific welcome and were offered a glass of bubbly while we checked in. The check in went so smoothly with the system they have in  place at the airport. In a matter of a few minutes we were in our rooms. Clothes off and a quick shower then off too the beach.

I think the first night was when we had our dinner at Scotch Bonnet. We  had tried there when they were first open a couple of years ago, and I thought their service and food was great at that time, so we were able to get a table with a slight wait. We came back and ordered escovitsch fish and the mixed Jamaican plate . They were excellent. We spent some time chatting with the chef and a couple sitting next to us, then it was off to the pajama party after we changed into the appropriate attire. At least I did. Hubby opted not to. There was quite a variety of “costumes” anywhere from a set of well placed beads to a long white nighty. Everyone looked great. Since dancing is my second most favorite thing to do, I dance, and dance, and dance. Hubby will dance for a while, but he isn’t into some of the music played in the disco, so when he has had enough, it’s time to go. Although this trip, he left to go down the water slide. The last trip he must have gone down the thing 50 times, so he was ready to give her heck this time too. He stripped down to his nekkidness hopped on the top of the slide and stopped cold. Oops! NO WATER! Talk about funny! That was the end of his water sliding for that evening. He went back down by  the room then sat on the beach which is where I later found him.

Rather than telling each daily activity from this point, I would rather talk about my overall thoughts and some of the people I met. I really enjoyed talking to everyone I met. There was one couple that we met that came in at the same time we did that I want to mention. If my recollection is correct, they were Russian, but lived in the US now. I know everyone will remember her because there was another gal there that could have easily been her twin. It was amazing. How they could not be related was incredible. They looked so much alike. We seemed to run into them quite a bit, and I really enjoyed talking to them. One of the nicest couples, and I hope we see them again on another Hedo II trip.

Seeing people from past trips is always fun. That ol’ Rasta Bill has to be one of the craziest, down to earth guys there is. At least I thought so ! LOL. All kidding aside, Bill, it was nice to see you again. I know you were looking forward to the Halloween night skit you and Ro were going to do. Judging  from past experience I am sure the two of you came up with something pretty creative. I will never forget the stuffed attachments the two of you wore at last years Holloween. I would love to here what you did this  trip. We had to leave so we didn’t find out much about the results.

Then there is “Ro” Many of you probably know the guy, He has been part of Hedo history for many years .It was good to see him, since it has been a couple of years. We had to leave so did not get a chance to see his wife, but here’s a late Hi! I wish him and his wife the best in retirement!. I hope to see them again at a Chicago Party.

I don’t know how many others had their  palms read by the guy that was so kind to give his time to do it for no charge, but I was amazed at the things he could tell about me and my life in the few short minutes he spent looking at my hands. I said absolutely nothing, nor did I look at the guy during his reading, so for those non believers, there were no clues on my  part. Not that it’s going to change my life, because everything he said has already taken place, and as for my personality, well, that’s pretty much set in stone , I would think. This was an experience I will probably never forget.

As usual for me, anyway, I had my emotional moments at Hedo. I always get moody for some reason, but it’s kind of a place where I let go and relax every part of my body. My soul included, I think. The meds I take are always  a few less than when I am home. There is no stress, no pressure, no deadlines to meet. Hmmmmmmmm , can I move to Jamaica????

I did get a kick out of the gal that walked into the lobby with someone that was not staying there. When the “gate keepers” questioned her, she bluntly told them that this was her guest and she was coming in with her, no if’s ands, or day fee!  She didn’t pay and walked right through.  Now that woman had a set of balls!

I had the best massage  while  I  was there also. I have had such a sore neck for the past few weeks, so it felt awesome. I had heard somewhere on the board about “orgasmic “ massages. Not one to me, but this guy really knows what he is doing. It was terrific.

The few games I played did get me enough hedo bucks to get a bottle of Appleton Rum, and I also won a bottle of the Caruba Rum, so that was pretty cool.

I spent a few hours in the piano bar one night. Since my husband really doesn’t care for that type of entertainment, I went by myself. I wish I could follow this piano player better, but I just can’t, so I don’t do well trying to sing, but I give her heck trying. I think the next trip I am going to suggest to him that he get all new books, and come up with his own little nitch so he can draw his own crowds. The turn out in the piano bar just needs a little coaxing and he has to soften up a bit so he can relax and have fun. I give him credited for hangin in there. It could take a while. He is no Dave, but we shouldn’t expect him to be.

Well, our 5 days was up and it was time to head up to the cliffs where we had reservations at The Castle. I knew Petrona would be watching for us to come in that afternoon, we opted to get a cab and leave Hedo. I will say that we had a great time, just the two of us. As often as I think it might be fun to be a bit more adventurous, we always end up spending some of the best days of our lives together with nothing but each other , the Jamaican sun,and mother nature. Our time spent makes our marriage of 28 years stronger and stronger. There’s a place for everyone at Hedo II, and you don’t have to look far to find it. We don’t expect anything when we get there, but we always get exactly what we wanted. It’s something we won’t find anywhere else or with anyone else. Now, if you will excuse me, I have to go to sleep.  I hope everyone is as lucky as we are! Have a great  trip back to Negril.

Here’s to Hedo

A place we go

Where the sun sets

And the cold drinks flow.

Here’s to the people

That we meet

Not your average joe

Off the street

Here’s to friends

Old and new

Till we meet again,

Let our memories shine through!
