We were at Hedo II during Lifestyles Week, July 2nd - 9th. This was our
first trip to Hedo.
Well...we're back home, and we have a BIG case of DIF. This was a
tremendous vacation for us. We literally had a blast. Before I go
into specifics, just a few hints that helped us immensely:
-Do read as much as you can. Chris Santilli's book, posts here at
DennyP, and in our case, we joined a Yahoo group (of folks going during our
time there). We felt we were very well prepared.
-Don't waste time on the prude side, even if it seems uncomfortable at first.
By the end of the week, we were NOT looking forward to getting dressed again.
The prude side was fairly empty.
-Do get to know some people that will be there during your stay PRIOR to your
arrival. It will make for a very easy transition, and they're a wealth
of comfort and information.
-Do take a roll of about 100 one dollar bills for tipping (baggage folks) on
the way in AND the way out. Change for large bills is hard to come by.
-Do the naked water slide during the day, and at night. It's a blast!
I've never heard Michelle laugh so hard.
-Do try to meet some of the EC's. Ray Ray has so much energy, it's
contagious.
We flew US Air, and had no issues with the flights. We had about an hour
wait through immigrations and customs. It was very hot in the MoBay
airport! Just be aware. We decided to fly Tim Air, and we're happy
that we did. It took at least an hour off our journey to Hedo. I
think we spent $280 for both of us, round trip.
It took about 5 minutes before we were approached to buy drugs. We
politely declined, and never had a problem after that.
We were quickly checked into room 2277, which is four rooms away from the nude
pool / hot tub. We booked Nude Ocean view, but feel like we were lucky
in our assignment. Since we arrived about 4:00 PM, we decided to head
straight to the hot tub, as it had become slightly cool during the afternoon
rain. We stripped and headed out the door. Leaving the room naked
for the first time was a tad un-nerving, but worries melted away in a few
short minutes. As soon as we hit the tub, we had dozens of people
meeting and chatting with us. Most of which, we had met on-line prior to
our arrival.
It took about 10 minutes to witness the first PDA. It was a strange
sight at first, but there seemed to be a rhythm to them. Every day about
noon, again about 3:30 PM, once more about 6:00 PM, and again after midnight.
I think the only place we witnessed them was at either the nude hot tub or the
nude pool. We were never pressured by anyone, and had only one Wally
(that eventually became a Vinny) incident, but Mike handled that quickly.
We fell into a routine of breakfast about 8:00. Charlie's omelettes are
not to be missed! We'd shower (had NO hot water issues all week), and
hit the nude pool. By noon, we were ready for Robert's cheeseburgers and
fries, a little more sunning until around 4:00 when we'd hit the hot tub
(sooner if we had an afternoon rain shower). Jerk chicken around 5:00.
Off to the room about 6:00 for a short nap before dinner at 8:00. We had
Munasan one evening, but ate in the main dining room the balance of the week.
Lobster was served one evening. Most of the evening shows were very good.
At about 10:00, we'd hit the piano bar, and at 11:30, head to the disco.
We did the naked water slide most nights...sometime after 1:00 am.
Hurricane Dennis paid a visit one day, but since it skirted the north end of
the island, it was little more than a series of thunderstorms. It really
didn't slow us down at all. We spent the worst part of it packing for
our departure.
Hedo is a very special place. Probably no where like it in the world.
Pretty much anything you want to do, seems normal and accepted. In past
vacations, it seemed like you had to "search for fun". Not here.
The fun was everywhere, and it's magical. Michelle and I were truly able
to forget about the real world, laugh like kids, and play like adults.
We fell in love all over again, and fulfilled a few fantasies along the way.
